Howdy,
I've searched these and other forums, and something close to this situation comes up, but not the exact one and none of those fixes worked anyway, so here goes...
I have the latest version of DVDShrink. I created a dvd with DVDLab that comes out to 9.52G. There are 9 VOB's. I played the file with WinDVD, it plays fine. Each VOB individually plays fine. But DVD Shrink give me the
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot recover
Failed to open file VTS_01_9.VOB (correct directory listed)

IFOEdit didnt seem to do anything, using the instructions from another message board. I also did a "test compile" with DVDLab, DVD Shrink accepted that. It cant possibly be the size (9.53G) of the project can it? I even tried 8.5G Dual Layer in DVD Shrink, which wouldnt be much compression at all, same error message. These are 4 MPG files that I'm working with, and about 13 menu pages with a couple transitions. Really not too complicated. Now I'm trying to pull out the last MPG, re-author in DVDLab, and see what happens then (in progress as I write this). <I have success, but only by taking out the 4th MPG. This brought it down to 8 VOBs. Is there a VOB limit with DVD Shrink?>

Any other ideas?

Thanks, Chris

All I can say is that somewhere around here there´s a forum handling this. I had a similar problem.
The only problem is that I don´t remember where it is.
I was trying to put 7.4GB into a 4.7GB and it did not work.
I was told that the movie (or file) had to be compressed down to something like 53% (or the likes).
My case was a VHS tape converted to DIGITAL...the file was really big.
After I edited the movie and removing all the unecessary files it fitted the 4.7GB DVD.
