Can someone who has a lot of experience with burning at under 100% tell me what the best way to use the quality options is. I burnt two movies so far at 100% and the best I can get Blade II down to is 77% with using re-author. Which quality option should I use and how do I set it up for best results because I one has sharpness/smoothness/... and I don't know which to chose. Also, What do movies burnt at 60-80% look like in comparison to the real DVD? I was just wondering if the loss of quality was that significant. Thanks for the help. One more thing, I bought Verbatim 16x and so far I'm 2/2 with no burning or viewing problems at all. They have played in every DVD player in my house. One last question, Best Buy sells 50 packs of Verbatim 16x DVD-R for 39.99 I was wanting to know if you guys found a place to get them for a lot cheaper. Have a good one.

Here is a guide that will answer all your Shrink questions, lots of good info.

40.00 is the going rate for 50 Verbatims but I would wait until there is a sale and get them for half that amount. You don't want to burn at 16x anyway too much chance for errors, if you are going to burn at a higher rate then keep it at 8x.

They may have a special on them this week for $20
Also Office depot have them on sale for under $20 for both formats.

I use max smoothness setting in the adaptive error compensation enhancement in DVD Shrink. A very good picture on those dvd's that are compressed at under 30%.If the compression tab tells you 70%,then you are compressing it at 30%.Usually 20% or higher compression then I use the max smothness setting.
I've done the Lord of the Rings trilogy using Max Smoothness, main movie only and they turned out nearly identical to my original. These are 3hr + movie only backups with a heck of a lot of compression.

To further reduce the compression,I use the frame start and fram end option-getting rid of majority of those ending credits.I also only use the AC3 5.1CH English sound stream only, untick the rest along with sub pictures and anything else that I don't need.

Also,, you may want to keep that burn speed down to help out on your viewing issues. Some stand alone dvd players will have trouble with the faster burns, causing these pixellation and poor quality viewing issues.
