Hi there.
Just got ImTOO DVD ripper, but I can't seem to get the hang of it.
Basically I can't work out how to get the best quality ripping.
mpeg2 seems to make the film slightly blurry, and the multitude of avi options makes me dizzy!
I tried using 3vix D4, but the picture was either squashed (so everyone was really thin) or a small letterbox, so large black border right around the picture.
Can't get enlightenment from the manual.

Can anyone tell me the best settings?

Thanks.

Dear geriman,

The power to set things is actually the strength of ImToo. But of course you need to experiment to find the best combination for yourself.

For ripping ouput, I generally choose AVI (video set to XviD, and audio to mp3). DivX would be another good choice, but I have found that some programs (e.g. Nero) like XviD better.

Do try to experiment more yourself.

Happy DVD ripping!

Thanks.
Don't seem to have XviD as an option!

I take it it's different from 3vix, which is what I tried in the AVI option.
It looked good, but the picture was shrunk, which I don't understand.

I'll keep fiddling.

That's probably because you don't have the codecs. Try download and install K-Lite codec Pack (full or mega version):

But I thought you hate choices???? *_*

Already got it.

Actually I think I've got a way of doing it, I doubled the resolution in output options from 352x240 to 704x480, that seems to have improved the picture quality.
Any higher and WMP jumps and freezes, presumably can't cope with the resolution.

Increasing the resolution sometimes does help, but sometimes might also backfire. Anyway, always nice to have found a solution.

OK, got XviD up and running.

Trying to decide between it and 3vix, what's the difference practically?
I like to know these things, makes it seem I know what I'm talking about!
So far 3vix seems to have slightly better colour reproduction, but again that might be my settings. This is complicated stuff here!
Why can increasing the resolution backfire?
Again, just interested.

They're just different. But if you ask me, I've found that the XviD-mpeg layer 3 combination appears to be more welcomed by some other programs (e.g. Nero).

Re. increasing resolution, it might magnify original defects and make things worse.

This'll make you laugh.
Did the whole thing, burnt the DVD - and no sound!!!

It seems my software (pinnacle - I know' it's crap, but very good for home movies, which is most of what I do) doesn't like mp3 format when burning DVD's.

So I've got to do the whole thing again using PMS instead.

Dammit.

Well, I won't laugh 'cos this dvd burning thing really needs some trial and error. So if you found some methods that work for you, just stick with it.

Good luck!

Hi everyone...great forum and excellent inputs...

I just installed I'm Too DVD Ripper Platinum and when I inserted my DVD movie, selected: File...open folder and selected my DVD movie, it found it but when it loaded the audio and Video chapters, within moments I got an error code from windows and it shut down! Any idea why?

Running WinXP sp2 with 2gig of ram.

Thanks in advance...

yeah did happen to me before, i used to get pissed of and use another ripping program.

Try reinstall! Or it could be DVD somekinda protection, try using VobBlanker or DVD Decrypter to extract VOB files 1st on to HD(both progs are good and they will clean up errors and all that shit from VOBs).

good luck.
