This is my first time here and there seems to be alot of smart people here. I had dvd x copy and had to reformat my puter so i lost activation ect. I have read the dvdxcopy link and did not save my purchase date ect. so icannot reactivate. I am not discussing dvdxcopy as i know this is the wrong place to do so. What I would like is to basically start over and use a new and updated program. I downloaded dvd shrink and dvd decrypter but I feel like I am lost on how to use it. Does anyone know if there is a program out there that is as easy as dvdxcopy? Thanks

I tried these programs. It copied the movies sucessfully, however, when i try to play them(tried 3 different dvd players) it errors and will not play at all. I burn at 4x with fuji DVD+R disc. Anyone have this happen to them?

Do your DVD players accept +R formats? Have you tried playing them in your PC? What's the make and model of your burner? You may need a firmware upgrade. Put a disc thru decrypter and get the manufacturer id. What's the manufacturer id?

Yes my dvd player accepts DVD+R. I have tried on my computer(it just hums and flashes green light that it is trying to read). My burner is NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A. I went to thier(NEC) site for firmware update and recieved the update before I tried to start ripping movie.

What's the manufacturer id on the discs that you used? Fuji +r is usually pretty good. Which programs that arniebear suggested did you use?

Dvd decrypter and DVD Shrink. Everything burns successful but when i try it in several different dvd players it will not work. I also tried it in my computer with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

It's starting to sound like your burner is the issue. Try blowing some compressed/canned air in your drive. I would also suggest a lens cleaner.
What's the manufacturer on those fuji? I'd like to rule media completely out.

Fujifilm is the name brand(dvd+r 8x). The burns are sucessful on the dvd burner, wouldn't they error if it was the burner? I also tried Teon DVD+R 8x as another form of media but that had the same results. I have not tried any DVD-R, could that be part of the problem?

It could be your media, but it also could be your burner. I have a NEC 1300a which is just a step up from your burner, I would try a -R disk, preferably Verbatim, as this burner likes that brand. You stated you updated your firmware which ver. do you have it should be either 1.93 or 1.A3 depending on what you had before.

From what I can tell your drive does not support writing to -R DVD media(-R cd yes though) But it should support booktyping which can be done w/ +R media. This fools your player into thinking a DVD Rom is being played. DVD Roms are the most compatible media type.
Fuji, Teon, Sony etc usually contract out the making of their media. So Fuji might not have made those discs. Every disc has a manufacturer id to tell who made it. Some manufacturers are better than and this could help figure the problem out.

I will try Verbatim DVD+R tomorrow. If this does not work do you think I should consider upgrading my burner? Are ther any other high end media DVD+R disc you would recommend other than the Verbatim DVD+R? I think you are correct about my burner only doing DVD+R. I really appreciate your patience with the newbie.

Not a prob - that's what aD is all about!
Before buying a new burner try the canned air and lens cleaner.
Teon media is mostly made my poor manufacturers - Fuji on the other hand uses some good manufacturers esp. if spindle has made in Japan on it. In fact those are usually Taiyo Yuden which are great. Verbatim are equally as good - pick up the DataLifePlus ones - which are made by MCC, Taiyo Yuden, MKM and Ritek.
