I am trying to "archive" a disc that is set to Region 2. I have looked through the forums and have gotten some good suggestions on how to do this but it still is not working.

I have used DVD Decrypter to rip the movie to my harddrive and then used VOB Blanker to change it from PAL to NTSC. I then used Shrink/Decrypter to burn it to a disc. Unfortunately, it will not play in my DVD player and the error message I get is "Playback prohibited by area limitations." It does, however, work in my DVD-rom drive on the computer.

In Shrink I have selected both "region-free" and also burned using Region 1 but neither seem to work in the player.

Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I will certainly give it a try but will it be any different from using Shrink and setting it to region free?

VobBlanker to my knowledge will not convert PAL to NTSC or vise versa. Setting DVD Shrink to make it region free is only 1 of 2 steps needed to do before it will play

Learn how to convert NTSC files to PAL format and vice-versa here: http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?tools=&madeby=&formatconversi...

Easiest method would be just buy a DVD player that support and plays all regions.

Thanks for the info. As far as I can tell though VOB Blanker does convert from PAL to NTSC. In fact when I bring up the new files in VOB Blanker it shows the video format as NTSC. It sounds like there is probably no easy way to make this change.

Tried DVD Santa but that just kept getting an error and closing down. I just don't understand why, if it says that the files are already in NTSC format it wont play in the standalone DVD player.

Ihave also tried to convert the files with vso DIVxto DVD and that has not worked either. The files appear to be converted to NTSC format but still do not play in the standalone player and come up with the same error message.

I tried the TMPGeng but that did not work because it would not accept the .VOB files to even convert.
