voice/lip synch WHAT IS DTS?

I have a list of 5 or 6 recent releases that have all come out with the soundtrack slightly out of sync with the movie (including hitch, spanglish, are we there yet...) I used shrink AND clone dvd2 and had the same results.

I noticed on some originals, that there is a sound file called "DTS"! What is DTS? (I'm guessing: Digital Tracking System; or the like?) Is this the culpret? In clone2, I have the option to keep that audio but not in shrink! This file is usually quite large and I am wondering... Am I supposed to include the file in the backup or exclude it? I usually copy only the main movie unless there are extras we can't live without (if they don't cause serious compression issues)

SECOND... On some originals there are features that clone2 or shrink will not allow me to copy like... included programs like viewers and interactive features and some odd sounding folders such as "jacket" etc... Is there some way to include these features and files in a backup and what software is needed???

DTS is Digital audio for movies. Most Suround sound units play the Dolby Digital 5.1 But some of the more highend suround sound play the DTS Digital Theater Sound which the suround system must have a DTS decoder to play the DTS.

You do not need the DTS to backup the DVD most edit that out due to how large the file is. If you do keep it your theater system needs to have a DTS decoder. If not you wont get sound.

I would suggest that you download DVD Decryptor and rip the movie files to your hard drive then open up the files on your hard drive into DVD Shrink. If you just do the movie you should just choose the Movie title and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and uncheck everything else.

Also it is best when you use shrink to go to the option part to change the size of the output file. You need to click on the pulldown menu that gives you that option and choose custom for the size and type in 4300, this will help by not letting the burn get to close to the edge of the blank disc.

Then burn at 4x or less

Are any of these suggestions going to prevent future problems with sound sync?

there shouldnt be any sound synch problems if you do it correctly. Do the steps I have told you to do and burn it and see.
