The media code is Taiyo Yuden. Please be aware that there fake Taiyo Yuden disk out there. If you look around the inner hub you should see a laser inscribed number. Real Taiyo Yuden disk should begin with GG, GH or GD.

Where did you buy the disk?

@G-Dizzle - most people recommend 4x max for movie burning, and with very good reason. i only ise top notch media and i stick to 4x (have tried 8x but not with good results). So i stick to 4x on only top notch media and i have zero problems over 1000s of burns/playback of those discs

Looks like Taiyo Yuden to me. Older ones. The newer ones write up to 8X. Also,I agree that even with 16X media, stick with 4X write speed. By the way, depending on your drive & firmware, even 8X media may NOT be suppported. The disc will only write at the maximum rated speed for YOUR DVD writer with the Media you're using.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

The disc only show it supported at 4x because the Pioneer 106D is only a 4x max burner.

As kivory666 had mentioned. It's probably fake. Genuine Yuden should says: "Manufacturer Name: Taiyo Yuden Co. Ltd". Example below.

based on the inner hub coding u gave in this thread, yes, they ARE fakes~ :(

it's not difficult to "fake" a media ID coding, as well as the place of origin (ie. Taiyo Yuden Co. LTD) when simply doing a dvd identifier scan~ :)

my OWN fake TYs have ALL the pertinent information when run through a disc identifier program, TYGO2 coding, Taiyo Yuden Co. LTD., etc), but it boils down to the inner hub coding found on ALL genuine Taiyo Yudens for you to KNOW if they are actually authentic or not~ :)

"the code is 8mc2141306 "

Does anyone have a link to a list of genuine TY numbers.
Else, how would we know?

there is no real "list" of numbers...basically to determine genuine TYs, it should start with a "GG" or "GD" or "TG"...etc...followed by 6 numbers (the last 3 or 4 numbers are the "Batch code" of when it was made) ie. GG001234
