first question-i wanna backup my sanford and son seasons on a dvd-r or dvd-r's.Is there anything specific you have to do different with tv show season box sets as far as shrinking them and burning them,as opposed to shrinking and burning a movie.I'm not looking to fit all 4 dvds that consist of the set to 1 dvd-r.i wanna burn them just like they are, disc #1 to one dvd-r,disc#2 to one dvd-r,etc,etc.....

second question-i have alot of mpeg/avi files of music videos i downloaded, how do i go about burning those on one dvd-r disc to make a nice little music video compilation dvd i can watch on my stand alone player.

i use dvd shrink, and nero. i really wanna be able to use these programs for both questions,i only wanna have to use new programs if i dont have any other choice.

1) Backing up TV show discs is no different than regular movies on DVD. Shrink is really a remarkable program. The only problem I've ever run across with it is that my menu button didn't work on discs for which I removed content that was accessible from the menus. That's why I recommend NOT removing anything from your discs when you use Shrink (100% of the universe probably disagrees with me here). Who knows when you're gonna wanna watch Seinfeld with Portugese subtitles!

2) Unfotunately, Shrink and Nero won't get this job done. MPEGs and AVIs need to be properly encoded for standard DVD playback, and this will involve a processor-intensive, cumbersome program such as TMPGEnc. Check out the "DVR Authoring and Burning" and "Other Video Formats to DVR" sections here http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ for the information to suit your exact purposes. If there's an easier way, it usually involves paying for licensed software, or sacrificing quality (I could recommend Roxio's DVD Builder, which could probably accomplish what you're looking for, but in my experience, that dumb program runs for a jillion hours and then farts out a disc that skips uncontrollably 30 minutes in).

TheBrowns is correct. When you reauthor using DVD Shrink, you lose menu functionality. You don't really need it though because your standalone player allows you to choose one title to the next on the same disc.

If you wanted to invest some time to get the best quality for your DVD back-ups DVD-Rebuilder would give you by far the best results.

As far as the video files to DVD the simplest piece of software available is the VSO DivXtoDVD. Look around, the last free version came out not too long ago so you might be able to locate it. Also, there's a very good guide on this site about it!
