Just wondering what the best chip is if I only want to make backups, not talented enough to homebrew and seems like there are no good apps, so only looking to backup.

Also how do you make your backups for gamecube? I have a modded xbox, but am new to the whole modding gamecube thing. I saw the stickied post at the top of the forum, but from what I read it seems like a softmod guide to stream games, not to make backups. Other threads make it seem like a copy the gamecube disk in windows, rename it as an iso, and burn it to a mini dvd.

Any advice is appreciated, as I am clueless.

Thanks

First of all, you need a mod chip. I recommend the Qoob Pro.

To rip a game, you will need a Gamecube Broadband adaptor. Once you've installed the Qoob Pro, you can use a USB cable connected to a PC to flash the BIOS and install a program for ripping. (ngcdev)

You then network your computer and gamecube and run said program. The program basically turns the gamecube into a server.

You point your web browser at the correct URL (displayed on your TV) and download a .iso to your hard drive.

Use Nero or a similar burning program to burn the ISO to a DVD-/+R.

Avoid the Qoob chip and get a Viper. Nothing but DREs with Qoob chips.
