Perhaps you forgot to reinstall the latest firmware for your burner.

What is the brand name and model # of that burner and firmware version ?
What other dvd programs are on that pc?
Sony media: What speed and what MID #? Use this free handy program to tell you your burner #/firmware version/and media code:

Also view those backups on your pc using the same DVD-RW drive that burned them and let us know how they look.

I think you mean a lite-on SOHW-1633S. They don't make a 1663S. F/w vs BS0A was the original f/w and is very outdated. The most current f/w is BS0S. Make sure you flash your drive with f/w that is for the model you have. Make sure there is not a disc in the drive and don't power down or loose power during a flash. Read and follow the directions carefully. Here's a link to lite-on f/w. http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/English/e_downloads/e_firmware_dvd%20...
