Modded Slim PS2 has problems with certain backup games

Just bought a modded slim ps2. Many backup games work well but some display black & white only (seems like out of sync). I suspect it has something to do with NTSC format (verse to PAL format). If this is the case then how to overcome this ?

Can someone suggest what the problem might be ? and how to ressolve it ?

Yup it is indeed the PAL games that will display as only black and white on most NTSC TVs. However there are a few ways to overcome this, one I hear you can buy a rgb cable and it corrects the problem, two there's a PAL to NTSC patch around here, search for it in google or something, and three some modchips like mine dms4pro have a setting you can use called force NTSC and it automatically makes all PAL games return to color.

I have the DMS4 Pro but have never tried that mode.
Does it effect anything other than PAL games?
Do you have to switch it back and forth when playing the
2 NTSC & PAL, or just always leave it in force mode?

I just leave mine in force NTSC mode and haven't had to many problems aside from the fact that some PAL games (ntsc ones work fine) flicker continously, it doesn't do it bad enough to ruin your gameplay experience but you'll definately notice it.

I have the matrix infinity and have no option for either NTSC or PAL.
tried to congifure for RGB at the "System configuration" but still no luck. Is this the limitation of the matrix infinity mod chip ?

Hmmm I don't know anything about the matrix infinity chip so I can't give you any suggestions on it. I guess your next best solution is to find that PAL to NTSC patch, by searching through google. I had it once but deleated it shouldn't be to hard to find and if i remember correctly the filesize is very small.
