I'm trying to use TMPGEnc. plus and your guide to encode a 80 minute Xvid file to MP2. I go through all the steps, but for some reason, TMPGEnc sees the 80 minute file as a 308 minute file...

So basically, I can't convert it because the lowest it'll allow me to go is around 127% of a regular DVD(5+ GB...). Only way around it that I've found is to burn at a lower resolution, but I don't want that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks I guess...I'm kinda trying to stick with TMPGEnc. mainly because some of the others require 15+ GB of free space which I don't have right now...>>

Anyone else have any suggestions of how to fix this problem?

Hi, give this a try I use TMPGEnc 3 Express but it may work for you, load your file and get into the Cut Edit function. Move to start frame and then hit the button Move to End frame. This should make the program recalculate your file and come up with the proper size.
I hope it helps.

I did what you told me to do, but the MPEG2 file created doesn't have any audio when I play it and when I run it through AviCodec it says...

File : 1.102 GB (0.00 B), duration: 0:00:00, type: MPG, 0 audio stream(s), quality: 73 %

Video : 1.102 GB, 8000 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (4:3), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported

And nothing for the audio tab.

Could it be because I ended the program early. Like I said earlier, the file was only 100 minutes long and once 100 minutes was encoded, I stopped the process.

When useing TMPGEnc to encode you should "Allways" decompress the audio in the AVI files before encodeing them with TMPGEnc because there is a Good Chance you will end up with no audio after encodeing if you don"t....

You can download a Tool for Decompressing the audio in your AVI files here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=01CT6LNE

As For how to get TMPGEnc to stop reading your AVI files as being a Lot longer than they really are you can Fix this Problem by going into the Settings to the "Advanced" settings and double Click the "Source Range" and then Moove the Slider under the Preview window to the Beginning of the File and click the "Mark Start Frame" button and then Moove the Slider to the end of the File and then click the "Mark end Frame" button and then click "OK" and then encode like Normal and it should see the File as it"s Proper Length....
