I am trying to copy season 1 of Lost. I put the disc in my drive and AnyDVD pops up that it failed to read dvd. This is the first and only time I have had trouble with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I am not sure what protection this has (not a fan of Lost so I don't own it), but try it with DVD Decrypter, but without AnyDVD running in the background. If there is no new copy pretection, you may have a bad press.

Hi there,

Is the disk dirty ? Damaged ? Scratched ?

This may cause it to read the media !

Good Luck !

No, these are brand new. No scratches or anything.

Odds are that you have a bad pressing. Can your PC read the disc at all? Insert the DVD in your drive. If you run Windows XP, cancel the autoplay thing. Then go into My Computer and right click your drive with the DVD and select Explore.

If you can explore the DVD, then you should be able to rip it. You can first try with AnyDVD. Create a VIDEO_TS folder somewhere convenient like the Desktop and then drag and drop the files. If this does not work, try running DVD Decrypter in File mode.

If none of this works, try another DVD to make sure it is not your DVD Drive that is going bad. If you have a DVD-ROM drive and a DVD Burner, try it with the burner, but only as a last resort.

I really hope those ideas work for you because I'm a big Lost fan and have downloaded all the tv-rips of the first, but I'm over here in Ireland so we won't be getting the dvd here till next year.
Unfortunately I'm a bit out of my depth here when it comes to giving actual advice for your problem, but just in case I always use SmartRipper, an old simple program but it works well.

Ok..... I ripped all 6 disk ........ there are no copy protections on these disks that DVDDecrypter can't do! I used DVDDecrypter (without anything--no AnyDVD, or DVD43) and it ripped to HD without a problem! Then I used DVDRemake to take out all the unwanted stuff-warning screen and unwanted buttons in the menu that I didn't want! Then I used DVDRebuilder and it worked PERFECTLY on all 6 Disks! So if you are having a problem with DVDDecrypter don't put AnyDVD in there at the same time, since DVDD didn't need it when I ripped it! The next thing is: check your disks....it might just be a bad press! Exchange the disk for another! I didn't have any problems with this and I found that it was unusally easy to do since there weren't any encryptions on the disks to stop DVDDecrypter from ripping!!!!! I'm very surprised that ANYONE is having trouble with this backup!!!

A bad pressing is most likely your case, since IHoe got it to work with Decrypter. It seems that now more and more DVDs are made badly. Is this a way to slow down pirating, to intentially make a DVD that will have problems on a PC DVD drive?

Jag......... don't read into more than what is there! it's a bad press. That's all. I had no problem with the Lost disks. Doesn't mean that others won't! Obviously Bildar has a problem....BAD PRESS! I was very surprised that anyone had a problem with LOST! It just came so easy when I did it. I'm sorry others are having problems...... I must be blessed with a great system cause I don't even bother to clean the DVDs off anymore! My dual drive DVD player and burner does the job so easily! And I've been having fun ever since! I am now over 600...... and just May I only had 298!!! This is what AfterDawn did for me! Check out my collection, on my signature!

I am getting a simular problem of Windows XP Pro SP 2 not successfully mounting some DVDs. When you go into Explorer no files are seen. DVD Decrypter and Any CD declare the media is not present.

The DVDs always work when played in my Sony DVD player so they are not dirty. Also significant is that these DVDs all have a simular trait in that the title shows up first before anything else like the FBI warning label. I don't have "Lost". Does it have the same trait of title up first before anything else?

I have a huge stack of successfuly ripped DVDs but not these. Any ideas?

I was able to burn disk 2 through 7 with no issues. Disk one failed on at least a dozen attempts.I use X-Copy. I then downloaded a copy of dvdcloner and it burned successfully but haven't tried playback yet.Just explored the disk after burning to see if files were there. There has to be some issue with the first disk that some rippers can't copy.
