jdubbs22: If DVD Decrypter shows you a incompatable format error,then sounds like your dl media/possibly you may have to update your burner's firmware.
Is that DL plus or DL dash?
Use DVD Decrypter or dvdidentifier to find actual model# and firmware version of your DVD-RW drive. Also find the MID code on that dual layer media.
Thanks for the reply. I upgraded the firmware and also changed the drive type to DVD ROM before I did the burn and it worked great. Not sure if they are related but it makes nice DVDs that play in my old Panasonic that I got in '02. Media I used were Memorex, I know everyone hates them but so far so good....
Some memorex media is ok. It all depends on who made it. Memorex does NOT make any of their own media. The ones to be leary of are those made by cmc magnetics who manufactures most memorex media. IF they play ok right after their burned they probably won't in 6 months or so. Use this free proggy to ID your memorexes http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ If they are cmc mags be prepared for problems later.
Thanks, I analyzed the media with the tool and it said that its Ritek. How do those discs rate? Do you know of any good sites to get good reliable media? I got my Memorex/Ritek disks at Buy.com, it came out to 46 bucks for 25 disks which is the best I have seen for DL +R media thus far.
Those riteks should be very good.
Memorex also uses phillips on their dl media and you have to watch out for those phillips.
$46 for 25 dls is a heck of a deal,but next purchase may yield those phillips. It's only a matter of time before memosux starts using cmag dual layer media.
