DVD Decrypter vs. DVD XCopy Express

Any reason using DVD XCopy is better than using DVD Decrypter besides some extra steps?

In my opinion DVD Decrypter is better than dvd xcopy express simply for the fact that the last update for decrypter still handles most movies around except for the occasional sony movie with the newest encryption. Dvd xcopy express in its heyday was great as it was a few steps quicker and you didn't have to choose movie only, the software did it for you. The drawback nowadays is the latest movies that have come out for the most part xcopy express cannot rip those as the ripping function is out of date by at least 2-3 years if I am not mistaken. Decrypter most likely will be around for awhile as you can use AnyDVD, dvd region free and a few other programs running in the background to assist decrypter. I would not suggest using a ripper along with xcopy express as you will having both software "clashing" with each other. Simply speaking if xcopy express works for you continue to use it until it just doesn't do the newer releases anymore. Most members through experience prefer DVD Decrypter as I have read since its free, will handle most movies currently out and unless you have the rf version of the xcopy you get that annoying backup screen that messes with some stand alone players. I am no subject matter expert but from actually using both i say hands down decrypter has my vote even though it is about a half hour more of work as opposed to a couple of clicks with xcopy express.

DVD Decrypter is the best out there at the moment and DVD Fab Decrypter is second and DVD X copy doesnt even come third soo stick with DVD Decrypter and u wont go wrong and i agree with matt :)

Thanks folks. I actually asked 'cause I reinstalled windows and when trying to reinstall xcopy, I had a registration problem 'cause the server was down. So, I used DVD Decrypter with DVD Shrink, and though it took a very long time, I didn't mind the result. You would have to use it in conjunction with something, right? Plus burning software...

Think it would be an issure having DVD X Copy on my machine along with DVD Decrypter, etc.? Any clash of the codecs? - in reference to what Matt72 said...

Since you are just ripping/ copying the files from the dvd there will be no clashing. Now what would cause the conflict would be if you were to use xcopy platinum with anydvd or dvd idlepro. From experience and fooling around I did see a conflict as 2 descramblers running in the background seemed to be fighting and the output was choppy, sticky and picture constantly rolled. I tried this method on the re-packaged new jack city recently so I'm sure that was the issue. But back to your initial question no xcopy and decrypter on the same machine will not hurt. Also codecs for the most part do not clash unless you are trying to install an updated codec or an old codec which in any case windows will notify you via popup that you either have to remove the old version before installing the latest or if older than your current version will advise you of that as well. Hope i answered your question wel enough.
I just re-read my previous post and to clarify as long as you don't run decrypter and xcopy platinum at the same time you will be okay.

Yes, it did, thanks. I'll go ahead, I guess, and re-install DVD X copy. Btw, I think I've been able, in the past, to have 2 versions of DivX on the same maching w/o problems - or maybe I just hadn't run into them :-)
