Just got some of these same discs myself in yesterday from supermediastore.com. 100% satisfied. I don't even want to finish my Verbatim stack now.

I got a 200 spool of Taiyo 4x off Supermedia store.
They are burning fine. But I am little disappointed at how bumpy around the edges they are. It reminds me of the cheap Office Depot Brand.

as to the "bumpiness" that is apparent on the bulk spindles, i noticed this too, BUT, it DOES NOT affect the quality of the disc, it is purely aesthetically NOT pleasing to the eye~ :)

My recent foray into Taiyo Yuden ownership has yielded the following results:

The blue Taiyo Yuden manufactured FujiFilm discs seem to be ideal for marking with my silver Sharpie

When I write on the yellow Taiyo Yuden manufactured FujiFilm discs with a blue Sharpie, it appears black

Why, in the name of good taste, would FujiFilm have Taiyo Yuden manufacture discs in such an ugly color as the pea green discs?

On a side note .. FujiFilm sells slim jewel cases in 5 colors and DVDs in 3 colors. Why don't they have Taiyo Yuden manufacture DVDs in red and violet?

If you notice a bulge in my cheek, it's because this post is 'tomgue in cheek'

By the way Doc .. my BenQ is eating these suckers up! (It loves 'em)

@catfreak

i JUST might have to bust out MY new Benq 1640 outta the box soon huh? seems like if your Benq LOVES these TY bad boys, then MINE should be no different?

mine is still in the box from newegg, i bought that 1640 after both YOUR recommendation and saugmon's success with his 1620s :) it IS a replacement drive once one of my main drives cease to function/burn~ but, so far, all my drives are still kicking despite 1000+ burns on my 2 main drives :)

so, at least i know i have got myself a winner waiting for me in the closet...perhaps someday, i'll build a 3rd computer and slap that puppy in there so i can SEE FOR MYSELF what all the ranting and raving regarding this Benq 1640 is ALL about :)

have a good one my friend.

im assuming you were using the 8x DVD-R Fuji's that are MADE IN TAIWAN...which are manufactured by Prodisc, NOT good media~ :)
This isn't true at all. I've been using Prodisc for as long as I can remember. I burn movies, ps2 games and gc games and I've never, not even once had a problem. I get excellent results from jitter tests as well. Many other people besides myself recognize Prodisc as a quality media. So pay no attention to this condemnation of Prodisc.

everyone has THEIR OWN opinions regarding media my friend, MANY MANY others here will AGREE with my "condemnation of Prodisc," i AM NOT ALONE in this~ :) MY experiences with Prodisc myself were NOT as pleasant as YOURS have been~ :)

whatever floats ur boat, everyone has their OWN PREFERENCES on media~

happy burning w/ your Prodisc~ :)

No offense to Made In Taiwan media, but I'm 100% agree with Doc in this case. I would take the Fuji DVD+R "Made In Japan" over the "Made In Taiwan" anyday and anytime period. The Fuji M.I.J is manufactured by Yuden Co. Ltd, code: YUDEN000-T02-000, which is authentic Taiyo Yuden media. However, we're entitled to our own judgment and preferences, so take whatever that you're desire to.

@ kivory666 - I agree. Everyone has a different opinion; no need to state it in caps. Anyway, you were stating it as fact that Prodisc is no good so I just wanted to show that there are other views. No biggie.

@ gulliver

at least we agree on the "right of one's own opinion", hehe :) that's about as far as i will go in this discussion about Prodisc's quality, as for me personally, they aren't even in the same league as Taiyo Yuden discs...

lastly, i did not say anything along the lines of, for example, "FACT: Prodisc are BAD MEDIA, stay away at all costs", i didn't even imply something so severe, you obviously took it as such

Anyway, you were stating it as fact that Prodisc is no good
once again, merely an opinion from PERSONAL experience and also a generalized opinion that many others have had too~ :)

no worries, as agreed upon, i respect your opinion(s) about Prodisc, even though they are completely opposite of mine~ :)

My personal opinion regarding ProDisc is this: I would purchase them if my only other options were Memorex and TDK.

I haven't even had success using ProDisc made CDs (I got slickered on them, Verbatim was printed on the disc)

LOL, once again, i WILL have to agree with you there catfreak~ :)

actually, i would use Memorex BEFORE i had to choose TDK, you should know my hatred towards TDK now~ :)

but, my sentiments exactly...i would take Prodisc over Memorex on MOST days, but, i would definitely take Prodisc over TDK on ANY GIVEN DAY~ :)

good day to you all~
