Cyclitical reduncancy check- CRC for short. Bum/damaged/dirty/and newer sony arccos encryption usually the culprit.
Using dvd decrypter since it is a more powerful ripper,but can't compress to fit on standard dvd-5 disc:
Open up dvd decrypter/insert original/ click MODE-FILE or MODE-F - not Mode ISO or Mode IFO.
Take note of where folder is going and name of movie. Click the harddrve icon,your iso files will be placed on your hard drive. Open up dvd shrink/fish out that ISO from your harddrive and open up to either re-author or entire disc.Then the rest is normal dvd shrink steps.
Now mode ISO is for a 1:1 copy,since no compression is used.You can backup a dvd-5 movie to dvd-5 blank or dvd-9 movie to a dual layer blank using Mode ISO read and MODE ISO write.These files are MDS files.
I'm not sure what MODE IFO is,maybe somebody can enlighten us on that.
I usually use the combo of dvd shrink to rip/nero to burn because majority of original dvds are dvd-9s,they have to be compressed. I bypass the dvd decrypter step.
If I need extra copies of something,I use my backup pc using dvd decrypter in iso read and iso write mode.That's a quicker combo on backups not needing to be compressed.
With that newer sony encryption, I now have anydvd by slysoft running in the background of those sony production dvds. It helps dvd shrink pull off that encryption,with no extra steps.
