Swap Magic 3.6 cd boots cd's but SMD dvd wont boot dvd's??

i've checked a lo tof threads here and it seems soem people have sort of the same problem but not exactly...now this is what I have done...

1.boot up SMD DVD
2. use slide tool
3.put in DVD backup
4.use slide tool again
5.press x

all that happesn is that my ps2 goes to the screen where you can choose to goto the mem card or disk?(shows two pictures of a mem card and cd/dvd)

I have done the same procedure with SMD cd to boot cd's and it works great.

I have also tried to use the SMD cd to boot my DVD's using teh method explained here in teh forum but all I get when I put in a Retail Game is "not a valid PS2 game"

I'm pretty sure I have a Version 4 PS2 and it doesnt read DVD+r's...

One thing that is funny though is that I used the same media(RiData DVD-r) with a dvd movie and it worked fine.

I burn at 4x with Ridata dvd-r's

any help would be great.

ok I sloved my own problem...this is so funny. Now I bought RiData DVD-r's which are supposed to very good quality DVD-r's but they didnt work so I said screw it lets try something else...so I went over to teh dollar store and got a couple of cheap Digital Disc DVD-r's burned at 2x and did the swap thing and the game booted up?? To me this doesn't make sense but I think that it could have also been teh burning speed maybe...the RiData's would only go as low as 4x but the DigitalDisc went to 2x so who knows?? anyway hope this helps.
