Hello

My aim is to rip certain segments of a DVD and save them in a format which can be played in Windows Media Player.

After reading previous posts, I have downloaded DVD Shrink, and have successfully managed to save the specified segment of the DVD onto my hard drive.

However, the problem which still remains, is how do I get the file into a format that is supported by Windows Media Player?

Using DVD Shrink, the segment was saved as a "VOB" file.

Many thanks in advance.

Actually, I should clarify that I wish to convert the VOB file into a windows media audio/video file.

Sorry if this is confusing.

wmp may need some codecs to play your files.
try this, download and install, then place your file in the program, it will say what codecs are needed to play your file, and from there, you can google that codec exactly, or download a packet of codecs. i personally dont like the packaged codecs, but there is one called FFDShow http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filte...

here is the GSpot codec download

Try e.g. Imtoo DVD Ripper:

I am successfully using DVD Decrypter to rip my DVDs to .VOB. I am then using AGKnot (excellent!) to convert the .VOBs to .AVIs - often these files are 1/3 the original .VOB size, even at 100% quality! I have now nearly tripled the capacity of my 250GB SATA HD!

HOWEVER - the .AVI files play in Win Media Player 10 with either very very low volume, or no volume at all. When I watch the files via my Pinnacle Systems Media player, the audio is just fine.

Any thoughts on this anyone?
