I've seen it advertised as 100 years and as 'superior'. I guess only time will tell. Sorry I don't think there is a real definitive answer.
Verbatim is good media so their definitely ones to use.

Ah thanks. You see I was backing up my dvd collection (well over 300), and thought to myself, cd-r dont last very long. Was kinda scared they would no longer work in a few years. but a estimate of 100 years, I think ill be happy with.

as long as you use the good stuff, with the AZO dye, you should be good for a few years, who knows if it will actually last 100 years as they claim, but, with fine media like Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim (MCC coded ones), i would safely guess that they will last long enough for dvd-media to become rather obsolete when NEWER technology with greater storage capacity is introduced in the future :)

my oldest Taiyo Yudens and Verbatims thus far are from about 3 years ago, but i have since became very fervent about recommending these 2 brands/manufacturers in particular as all my backups are still flawless. with thousands of discs burned, you can imagine my dismay if they didn't last...i would be one very upset guy~ :) good luck.

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

i read somewhere keeping them in a dark, cool place, in its case helps further preserve the life of all media. keeping them away from heat sources and light. all of my collection is up onm a shelf on the wall. working on the 4th shelf now, that holds around 100 each. so its gettin bigger, and just added 3 more today. gosh i love my burner !

we ALL hope for the best...i keep my blanks in a dark, cool closet, NO Direct Sunlight at all into the closet...i keep all my burned dvds in cases/big binder stored VERTICALLY~ :) i dunno why i do, but, it seems to be working pretty well~

use the "good stuff" (media) and there shouldn't be any problems/issues with longevity~ :) take care of them and they will be good to you too~
