Ok i'm a total noob to this so please tell me how to do this :(
I have a Tivo r10 and want to take programs from it to dvd for archiving later. I read on a tivo community forum to get the items that I have now which are : dazzel digital video creator, and (on the way) pinnical editing software. I figured out how to get the videos to my pc, in mpeg format. However I dont know what to do next. I found something to convert them to vob files but there are no .ifo or .buf files or anything so it wont work on my dvd player Please tell me what i need to do after i get the programs on my pc in mpeg format.
HELP ME PLEASE EMAIL ME THE ANSWERS

unfortunatley not. i tried and no one can tell me how to get my mpegs turned into a dvd that'll play on my home dvd player, i know that i need to encode it into a VOB file but there are other files that i dont know how to make that go with it that the dvd uses to start playing it.
HELP ME PLEASE EMAIL ME THE ANSWERS

It said "Sonic Solutions has released an updated version of their MyDVD software that will allow you to burn shows transferred using the TiVoToGo home media feature onto a DVD that can be played on any standard DVD player. More information is available here .
You can also transfer programs to other storage devices without using the Sonic software, but they will only be playable on a PC that is running TiVo Desktop 2.0 or higher and has the correct Media Access Key and Playback Password. They will not be playable on a DVD player. If you archive TiVo video (.tivo) files to a DVD, we suggest copying them back to your hard drive before you play back the files."
Have you attempted any of the above solutions.....you might have to put out some $$$$$. Sonic's MyDvd is the answer to your question, but it will cost.

actually tivo to go wont work on my r10 unit cuz the software isn't up to snuff on it. I already have my dvd though that came with my dazzel software any idea how to change the mpeg to dvd on home theater format using my dvd?

I have MyDvd Deluxe Version. 6.10, which is suppose to take the Tivo-ToGo files and convert it, then burn it to a DVD. However, I have not used it, mainly because I haven't found a movie/show I want to burn for prosperity. And since I burn SO MANY of the latest movies out on DVD, there isn't much left for me to acquire.
Although, I hope shortly I will have my HD Tivo box hacked so I can send movies that I record to my PC, and then I will be burning everything that has HD content to a DVD.

If you haven't found a solution to your problem, here is one that I just used to convert my mini-dv tape recordings to DVD format, and it worked/looked great. Ulead.com VideoStudio Version 9, and they give you a 30day free trial. I converted 3 tapes from AVI to Mpeg to DVD format, and I was so pleased with the results that I am going to purchase the software from buy.com for $51.95

avi to dvd i use film machine or avi2dvd, both apps free and can use CCE encoder, also have there own.
mpegs, i dont encode them as that loooses quailty i patch them with dvd patcher (free app) then only author to dvd (make vob/ifo/bup) with tmpgenc dvd author
to make bup/ifo, for/from your vobs (main movie only - no extras) use ifoedit (open app, look at botton center, load first vob it pulls rest in) NOTE keep destination folder same as vobs!!!

Pinnacle bought the Dazzle Digital Video Creator hardware device about two years ago from it's original owners (SCM Microsystems). The hardware has undergone some design changes since then. I would think their own editing software (which you say is on the way) would have the capabilities you are looking for. But Pinacle, as do all surviving clone programs, plays ball with the MPAA so if your tivo recordings have a CSS stream included you will need decryption.
I bought the Dazzle device before the buyout and it include a bundled software called "Movie Star 5" which converted MPEG to standard DVD burning with one click after you first added the clips you wanted to burn to a previewer. Not sophisticated like today's programs but it did simple burns. I loved it for what I was doing at the time. Did you get that program bundled? Or maybe Pinacle just bought the hardware and let Movie Star 5 die in favor of their own package.
I Bought the Dazzle to grab caps off my dvd movies (saved individual frames as bitmap images). Only thing that disappointed me was there was no component connection, only an S-Video connection. So the full resolution bandwidth of the original DVD could not be captured.
Wait for your Pinacle software to arrive. If that doesn't work the suggestions by Rotary and sytyguy are valid.

Yeah, I had a look at some of those programs, and even tried DivXtoDVD, which converted the AVI file to DVD, but the sound was horrible, my voice sounded like I was one of the "Chipmunks". Ulead's VS9 does everything in one package, capture from the camcorder, create chapters, render, and burn. Although, I must admit VS9 is not the most intuitive software around. It took me awhile to get a perfect conversion.
