@buckscrap, I found the Frankenhooker DVD and i reproduced your problem exactly. Here is the way i did it, and yes, media was not the issue. As i said, i found the Frankenhooker disc. It was from a movie i got from the free newsgroups alt.binaries.(something) a couple of years ago. This was before i new anything about DVDs and how to copy them. The disc that plays on computers and not on standalones looks almost exactly like the other one in files listed and may be identical (have only done a quick check). The problem is not in the type of files, but in how they were put on the disc. File structure, not file type. The one that doesn't play on standalones was just a drag and drop file to disc proceedure if i remember correctly..(this was a couple of years ago) I took this disc and opened them with DVD Shrink disc open button as i had it on a disc. It encoded the movie and burned it to a new genuine Ty disc. The resulting movie now plays on both standalones and pcs, and is book-typed DVD-ROM. The booktyping wasn't what fixed the problem, it just helps in future compatability with other standalones. What made the difference was in how i used the data. Shrink new there were extras, and all the other things found on a regular DVD. Computers have more brains and apps they can call on if they hit a file type or structure not normally seen on a movie DVD. Standalones are stuck with the brains the designers gave them and can't improve with a firmware flash like computers can. Anyways.. I am rambling on. Thank you for providing the log files also. Right away Creaky and Jerry746 saw you were using a RW disc, and i don't think you ever mentioned that in any of your posts on this. Give us data and we can do something for you. Even without any real data, your questions on this made a little light go on in my head, and i remembered i had the same problem with that Frankenhooker disc, and could probably find the answer for you, if i could find the disc. (i am not very organized in some areas.. :)) This may not be what you did, but i suspect that a couple of weeks ago when you started having problems, you might have taken a shortcut in movie making, and/or switched to using DVD+RW and forgot about it. That is why log files are so good for problem solving. It reports the data with complete accuracy, leaving nothing out. Please do not get mad or feel like i am lecturing you. I say this for the others out there who read these things, but don't join in on the discussion.. the net as a whole. The more we learn, the easier this gets.. Now get out there and burn something :)

@Maxburn - sounds very plausible to me.. detailed logfiles may well have shown up the problem too. i personally work best from logs as opposed to posters' descriptions of problems, it's simpler thay way (for me).

@creaky
Hi there mate! :). Logfiles are the best. I still don't know how to read everything in them, but some things (like media) stand out when there are problems. I tend to think about the problems ppl post here while i am at work, and my mind goes thru lots of possiblities and fixes during my brain idle time (which seems to be most of the time for me :} nightshift 12 hrs.., btw does anyone know of a good brain defrag program??). Speaking of work, i have to go for now, but i do check in here during my breaks at work (can't get internet from inside the fab, dang it!).
