So I've got image patcher and disc id utility, I'm almost there playing back-up games online but have a couple of questions for you guys.

When you get the disc id from the ps2 with the disc id utility, if I keep pressing x, different disc ids will keep coming up. Does it matter which ones I use?

Will my chip be detected even if I patch my games? When I was shopping for a chip, they all had 'stealth-mode' advertised, suggesting that you had to turn off your chip to use the PS2 online. Was this because back then you couldn't patch games? IE, back-ups were detected hence they determined you were using a mod? Or can they actually detect certain mods?

I have a ripper 2 gold.

Thanks.

The same id needs to come up EVERY time or something is not right. You are getting the id off the original ps2 disc, right?

Yup, original disc.

Press x, disc id comes up, press x again (3 times) - zeroes, zeroes, zeroes, then on the fourth press a disc id that was different to the first came up.

Edit: Just tried again and it's coming up with random numbers every time.

No, but I'm sure there used to be more people posting on these boards.

Anyway, it's Burnout Revenge.

This has happened on other games too.

Before I got dsl, I was curious bout how to play online when the time came so I got ID utility + patcher just to try it out.

All the games I tried kept generating different disc ID's. It was a while ago so I cant recall which ones they were. I'm pretty sure they were online enabled games though (BR is anyway).

Maybe I should try downloading ID utility again? I wondered if maybe it wasn't working properly but if it wasn't, I probably woulnd't have got as far as I did with it huh? I mean it boots and brings up the dnas, so....I'm stumped.

the id utility might not work with your modchip. The ps2 needs to know that the tray was opened and do its security checks on the disc, your mod might not let the ps2 do this.

That makes sense. I shall have to seek other alternatives.

Thanks Sly, and Hursty for the link.

BTW, does disc id util work with PAL PS2's? That's what I've got.....

Edit: If I converted the game to NTSC, and used NTSC dnas, would it work?
