I have searched for I. J. Got nothing.

I've been reading all the threads in this section about some DVD's having things on them that is not need for the movie to be able to play and such.

I just started this whole ripping business so I'm what you fellas can call a noob.

I just ripped Italian Job and it is a little over 8.0 GB's. How do I know what I'm supposed to take off or what I can take off?

Also if you can point me to a thread already answering this question then that would be great too.

Thanks everyone.

EDIT: Also I'm going to try DVD Shrink and remove the whole french part.

Use DVD Shrink for this, very easy to do. Pop your DVD into the tray, open DVD Shrink, click on the OPEN DISK button, let the software analyze the DVD, then when it is finished with that and you are ready to rip the DVD you can either click on the BACKUP button or you can then remove all of the useless crap like commercials and cast interviews and keep just the movie part itself--which is what I usually do. To do this click on the RE-AUTHOR button at the upper right. A small window will open which will divide the DVD into three sections. The top section says "Menus", the middle section says "Main Movie", and the bottom section says "Extras". The middle section, "Main Movie" is all you need to keep. It will have a number of titles, such as 'Title 1', 'Title 2', and so on. Left-click and drag your cursor over these titles and highlight them, then drag them over to the left window which says "DVD Structure" and release them into that window. Now you are keeping just the movie itself and leaving behind all the useless crap that is taking up valuable space. When you have done this click on the BACKUP button at the top-center of the window and it will start ripping just the movie.

First of all thanks for replying to my thread Nick Duece.

Well I was able to copy this movie using DVD Clone 2 no prob.

Although some movie such as "Hurricane" have the main title bigger than 4.7 GB's. This movie has a movie title of 5.5 GB's.

What should I do then? And is there any way to tell what I'm removing? Like which extras?

if you use DVD Shrink then regardless of the size of the main movie title the program will bring it in under 100 percent. Of course, if you leave in the extras which no one watches, like the cast interviews (who cares if so snd so likes to play practical jokes on fellow actors?), then the movie itself will be smaller and that always affects the final quality. By removing the filler and just leaving the movie title(s) then you leave more room for the file size and it doesn't have to be shrunk as much, and the less you shrink it the better it is quality-wise. I've used DVD Shrink to rip Schindler's List and it all fit on a 4.7G disk with no problem. And I don't know of any way to tell which "extras" you are removing, I just remove them anyway unless the entire disk is less than 4.7G then I don't worry about it. there are those who value cast interviews, interactive add-ons, commercials, etc. and then there are those, like me, who only like the movie itself. try DVD Shrink, I'm sure you'll love it. I sure as hell do. DVD Shrink and Netflix, a better combination there never was.

DVD Shrink and Netflix sounds a bit like pirating to me.

Pirating is when you copy for profit. That may not be the legal definition but it is the moral compass I follow. Copying for personal use is no different than recording a show off the tv for personal viewing. As long as one isn't making a hundred copies of "Dude, where's my car?" to sell at a flea market then I don't see it as pirating in any sense.
