I just recently installed my new video card and my new mb+cpu.

Anyways attempting to play some video on my computer, when the windows media player opens it kinda freezes, my whole computer locks up, and takes a good minute to get ctrl, alt, del workin. I've tried downloading codecs and multiple media players like quicktime and vlc, and even the divx player. Everytime i attempt to play video, its just like its too much work for my computer. Is there something I'm missing ?

Alright i figured this out, when I hit ctrl alt del, and It opens the menu (im using windows 2k, so it kinda closes everything out and opens a seperate menu) The video continues playing in perfect quality it seems, but when i cancel out the screen, then the video once again stops, and locks up, along with everything else on my computer.

Thanks for any help.

This really isnt a DVD problem. This is a DVD Forum.

There could be lots of caususes of this problem. You not having the MB installed right, not have the operating system insatled right or even the program your ussing, but your not going to get a direct answer to your problem in a DVD Backup forum.

look it is more then likely it is the drivers to your video card, so my suggestion is to go to your video card websiete and get the latest drivers, when your are dealing windows do not let it fool you, the drivers that Microsoft recommends are not the best nore do they work better with other software, when you go to winupdate it shall suggest new drivers for your computer but in fact the drivers from your vedio card websiete are more frequently update then dose of microsoft´s websiete,

I tell you purchased new mother board amd athlon xp2000 128mg videocard sound bast 128, well I shall make this short it 3 video cards 3audio cards to make windows work right, xp cost me and additional $425.00 in hardware, the only thing that microsoft did was to say it is the drivers it is not there software, so when dealing with windows be ware, I will tell you so thing else I order online madrake the same week the I had purchased Xp,and 2weeks later madrake 8.2 arrived and just for the hell of I install all the hardware the I had purchased in the beginning and it all worked fine that tell you something abought plug and play xp¨S bullshit!!. it took 6 years for windows xp to get it rihgt. just get new drivers for get what winupdate drivers say it is B S.

I will agree on 1 thing lottt11 says. That is in windows update dont update the drivers they offer on thier update site for your hardware.

I have used XP since it first came out and have had no problems with it. I actully like it but I know alot of others dont. It isnt MicroSoft fault that hardware manufactures dont make drivers for windows XP and send them with thier product.(which most do now anyway) it didnt take MicroSoft 6 years to get it right. it just took the hardeware manufactures that long to add XP suport for thier products.

But again if the Windows update site offers updates for your hardware dont download them use the manufactures site of your hardware to get the updates.
