Lately, all the backups I've made can only be loaded with toc refresh + special boot on the cd version. I'm using a old ps2 (version 3 it think) and swap magic 2.0. Just by reading that, you'd think my problem was my hardware, but I've tried multiple games at a friends house (slim ps2, sm3) and still the same problem.

I even tried deleting and reinstalling my burning programs (ach120, dvd decryter, nero), and still ended up with the same results.
Anyone know how I can fix this?

its something that cant be really helped if you try maybe using dvd loader instead of cog swap or using the latest version of swap magic that usually works better rather than 2.0

Yes, some games (Soul Calibur 2, Tekken 5) require DVD Loader to play with Swap Magic 2.0. Yet these load fine with Swap Magic 3.6!

Thanks for your replys, but thats not my prob. I guess I wasn't detailed enough, but all of the games I've burned since June have been acting up, regardless of the games age or size.

Ex. you mentioned tekken 5, I burned it back when it came out in feb and it worked fine. I tried burning my friend a copy last week and it'll only work with special boot, yet the one I burned in feb is still good. It doesn't boot normally with his slim ps2 and sm3 either. Thats what I'm asking about.
Also Cd games won't boot normally either.

Imation, TDK, and Fujifilm dvds. CDs I'm using are Memorex. Speed is at 2x on dvds and 8x on cds. All -R.

Dump the Memorex for sure.
TDK should work fine
Imation is ok, but not the best
and i have never used Sony but see many people
on here who claim that their back ups don't work
that used them.

Like above you may need a firmware update
try that then use the TDK and see how it works.
And i would really invest in Swap Magic 3.6
i have 2.0 and it sucked, once i got 3.0 95% of my problems
went away as far as loading games.
