I don't know if this is obvious or not, but when you have your Motorola dvr hooked up to your pc via firewire, do you need to also have your dvr hooked up to your television?

What I'm trying to do is save recorded programs from my dvr.

I installed all the drivers and fired up CapDVHS. I can't figure out how to capture though. Do you have to turn on the tv and select the shows that I want to record and select play in order to see them on my pc in CapDVHS?
