Just checking to see if anyone else has experienced this. I bought Verbatims DVD+R and they worked like a charm, no problems out of them at all. I bought my first pack of Taiyo Yuden DVD+R and the first 3 discs I used all skipped and froze. My just be my burner which is a sony or my DVD player which is also Sony, but with all the people that said Yudens were the best I could not believe that they froze like they did. I read and burned at 4X. I have Anydvd and Clonedvd2. Is there anything I am doing wrong?

Are the TY's real or fake? You can tell my looking around the inner hub for a laser inscribed number. The number should begin with GG or GD. If it does not contain either of these, then chances are it's not real Taiyo Yuden media. If it's not real Taiyo Yuden media, then it's probably not very good media which is why they're skipping and freezing.

The number on the disc starts with a DD. I got these discs from supermediastore.com so i guess i will not be getting anymore from them. Where is the best place to get discs? I cant find anything good in any of the stores around here. They almost always carry memorex, maxell, and sony. Which all of these are made in Taiwan. The memorex and the maxell i know does not work well for me.

I have exclusively bought my TY's from Supermedia for some time and have never received any fakes from them. I highly doubt your TY's are fakes. Have you updated your firmware to your burner lately? I will say I have also had very good results with all the Verbatims I have used. I would say the TY's and the Verb's are practically dead even in quality. They are both top of the line if you ask me.

Cheers

I hope Supermediastore is not starting to sell fake TY's. I just ordered some from there.

Yeah, me too! I've got 100 4X Ty's and 300 cases coming today from them. It's my first order from there.

@mort2236, you should download DVDIdentifier to check the manufacturer of the discs and post the results here. It's a great program and it's free.

Both Yuden and Verbatim are high quality media - so you can't go wrong with them regardless. However, I've had more experiences with the Yuden, thus Yuden is what I prefer. In contrast, it all boils down to the individual's preferences and experiences, so again, both Verbatim and Yuden are first class top notch media.
