I just picked up a 50 pack of verb DLP -R8x made in Taiwan and DVDIdentifier says:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:MCC 02RG20 ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [MCC 02RG20 ]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The code on the plastic hub reads 5201E1821-01628620
Do we really need to be concerned with CMC made Verbs???

We are mainly concerned with the type of dye used .. the Verbs and TYs use metal azo dye which is a superior dye ... regardless of who manufactures the Verbs, if they're coded MCC they use metal azo dye

You may have already read this in an earlier thread where i posted i have some CMC made verbatims:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/233695 Those were from a few years ago, but verbatim has used CMC for their media before, at least in the recent past. Those MCC code should be fine from all i have read, and from the ones i have. Mitsubishi Chemical Corp is the manufacture, and i believe their headquarters is in Japan. I can't seem to find one lying around as all my disc code out as YUDEN000T02 at least the ones near the computer right now.
If you get a CMC manufacture id no matter who slapped on the label on top of it, they are junk in my opinion. CMC is not alone in the junk manufacture catagory, they just seems to be the ones that most often lurk under good brand names. I speak from personal experience, as one who got shafted by the crap media as many others out there have also. The thing was, i thought i was buying good media because it said memorex on it.. Now i know better. I stay away from memorex like i stay away from the hookers on Central Ave. but that is another story..
I wish Verbatim would stop using CMC as an outsource. Verbatim's reputation and stance for quality has taken a big negative hit in my estimation by using crap media suppliers. Sure you can find some good non-CMC stuff in the verbatim line, and i guess that is true of most of the better companies that stick their name on a CMC made disc. The good brands should NEVER use crap media if they want to keep a good reputation. Sorry, there i go ranting about bad media again. I need a good shot of whiskey now, but i have to go to work.
The current Verbatim data life plus do not have CMC mag lurking under their name.. yet..

I guess I was paranoid that they would code out as MCC even if they were CMC made. I really need to get a life me thinks.

nothing wrong with being a little worried and then taking it a step further to EDUCATE yourself as to the possible problem of CMC making Verbatims... :)
knowledge is power, those in the KNOW are far better off than those who know NOTHING, but just repeat what others have said in the past.
MCC coding is GREAT STUFF, i have nothing but praise for my MCC003/MCC004 which by the way are Verbatim labelled 8x/16x DVD+R variety~ :) FLAWLESS VICTORY~! hehe (sorry, Mortal Kombat in my head at this moment in time)

Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups
