i have only been burning DVD's for a week or so and have already figured out a lot of things myself. what i am having a problem with is the amount of time it takes to get the files ready for burning. i had 4 episodes of 3rd rock from the sun and it literally took 5 or 6 hours to complete. i don't know if i'm doing something wrong or if it really just takes that long. the actual burning process only took about 15 minutes or less. anyone help me?

We are glad to help but we need more information. Just saying you are burning 4 episodes of 3rd rock is not enough.

are you ripping the files from a DVD?

Are you downlaoding the files off the net? If so what kind of file type are the episodes in?

What programs are you using?

what steps are you taking to complete this project?

info info info

ok...i'll try

i didn't rip them from a dvd. i downloaded them from the net but they are dvdrip downloads in "video clip"--they play in windows media player and possibly real player.

my dvd burner came with arcsoft showbiz DVD 2 software and it asks for my files to burn...then it must convert them automatically. i don't specifically choose "convert from .AAA to .BBB" does this help? is there some other generic way to encode then just burn on another program?

thanks for the speedy reply

If your converting the files from AVI to DVD format then yes converting can take a while to do. if your doing 4 clips into 1 DVD then it would take a while for them to convert. Depending on your computer specs(CPU/RAM) etc. When I capture my VHS tapes onto my computer in AVI format a movie which is average 1 1/2 hours takes me close to 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete with Nero when i convert into a DVD.

I have a 3.2 Ghz with 1gig ram computer.
