I copied my xbox C folder to my PC with no problem but when I do the "backup C" from within ltools it just sits there with the xbox light yellow FOREVER so I tried to just install the UDE2 but all I get is

Error (line 1): (callscript) "ActionScript file failed execution"

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Which One? Do you mean what version of EvoX? Can you clarify that for me? Should be around most of the weekend, I'll do what I can to help.

If you don't already have EvoX or whatever dash you want to use make sure you download a stable version. I try to stay away from BETA version when it comes to the xbox. Plus, you alleviate problems in the future; "my games won't play", "I can't FTP", etc... I may be wrong but I think the latest for EvoX is version 3935. If it's not, it's at least a stable one. You can always update later.

II'm sure you know where to find the dashboard(s) you want. IRC, Google, etc... ;)
Good IRC channels to check are #evolutionX, #xbins, #xbins4newbies, #xbox-ps2, and #xboxiso. If you have never used IRC, then you will want to download mIRC.

When you do find EvolutionX, it will be in one of two forms. It will either be in ISO form, or it will just be all the individual EevolutionX files standalone. If the files are standalone then you will have to convert them into ISO format. If the files are already in ISO format, then proceed to ?Burning EvolutionX Dashboard?

EvolutionX will be in either 1 of 2 forms...an ISO or a folder and files standalone. I'm sure you knw what to do with an .iso. Burn it and finalize the disc. Simple. (Use Nero or DVD Decrypter).

The individual EvolutionX files include ?default.xbe?, ?evox.ini? AND two optional subdirectories: BIOS & Skins. You do not need the BIOS files if your xbox mod chip already has a BIOS pre-installed (such as X-ecuter v1.0 and X-ecuter LITE). The Skins are just graphical enhancements to the look of the evolutionX dashboard. Although you may not need either of these subdirectories. If you burn these subdirectory files to the cdrw though, it won?t hurt. They are optional.

If you need to convert your EvolutionX files to ISO format then you will need this program: XISO by Yursoft. It is one of the easiest to use. You can download it here: http://www.yursoft.com/index.php?pagina=xboxutils.php

Open XISO :

Go to "Tools>Make a xISO"

Select the directory on your PC Harddrive where the files are. All files in that directory and subdirectories will be added in the iso file. Include default.xbe & evox.ini (there's no need to include the "bios" & "skins" directories , but it won't hurt if you do).

Make sure there's a "default.xbe" in the root of the directory.
Then click on "Open"
Select where you want to save the xISO file. Make sure there is enough space left on your device.
Give a name for the iso file in the "File name:" form. Then click on "Save".
Once the iso file has been created , xISO will confirm.

If your xbox is set for FTPing and you download an EvoX version that is in the folder and files standalone...just FTP the files to your xbox.

As for the directory to install the dash in. It may depend on your setup. Some xboxes it will go to the E:Drive and others, the Apps folder in the F:Drive. Mine goes to F. You will have to look around in your to find the dashboard folder. It's easy though, trust me.

However and Whatever dashboard you decide to install, you can do multiple installs and switch between them. I prefer Avalaunch. The locations I listed earlier are good to find either dash and various other programs you might need.

Lemme know if that helps.

Okay it does answer a little but the info is for a modchip (although I am sure some of it applies to a Softmod) here is where I am at now.

I have put the save file on the xbox and have vooted with 007 to run Ltools and have backed up the Xbox C on my PC via FTP but when I go to select the backup option in Ltools the error I posted before comes up (I think I can't do that yet until I have EvoX installed so I can backup my Eeprom?)

That is where I am stuck, I havent chosen UDE2 install yet as I want to backup my Eeprom (guessing if that is the correct order?)

No you should be able to do that with the softmod installation. I believe UnleashX is the dashboard. Once all is said and done, then you can FTP the dash you want onto your xbox.

I got it working with NDure's exploit, since Ltools gave me nothing but a hassle! Only problem now is I can't connect to the Xbox via FTP (I'm using FlashFXP) I was able to FTP into it with Ltools but now it won't with it softmodded & EvoX as my dashboard! I tried disabling static IP and giving it an address (saving it and rebooting) but still nothing? Oh well I will fix it later it should be an easy fix, I am just happy I got it working!

That's good man. That FTP thing should be an issue. I'm sure I could help with that one. You may want to take a look at the tutorial I made. It's in my sig. If you've still got issues on it let me know and I'll do what I can.

**edit: Maybe it's just me but a lot of people tend to have issues FTPing with EvoX. You may want to try Avalaunch and see if it works for you.
