I'm decently new to ripping dvds and copying them but I have had lots of success doing so...there have only been a few dvd's that I have come across that require some extra work to get around...I thought it would be a guide idea to have us all make a list of those "stubborn" dvd's that just don't seem to want to copy...

for me they have been...

Sahara - still havn't figured this one out...any ideas?
Hitch - finally ripped with dvddecryptor->dvdshrink->nero

post away guys,
peace

I ripped Sahara and Hitch easily with Decrypter. I don't know of a DVD Decrypter can't rip. With Decrypter not being updated any more new encryptions may become a problem one day, but don't forget about AnyDVD. AnyDVD gets updated frequently and can also do any dvd known to man. I don't think there will ever be a dvd that can't be copied.

Ppower is right - as of right now decrypter is able to handle any region 1 dvd. That will change next week w/ the release of Lords of Dogtown. AnyDVD was just updated to handle it. Definitley a must have now.
As for Sahara - no problems here either - nothing special on that one.
What the error/problem your having w/ it?

With Sahara, I tired DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter, CloneDVD 2...and all with either AnyDVD or DVD43...and all with no luck...maybe it was the dvd itself? i kept getting errors while it was encoding saying something like cyclic redundance error and then it would just stop encoding and lock up...i tired cleaning the disc and it looked like there weren't any scratches on it...I also had the same problem with Team America World Police...

I've tried everything I can think of to make a copy of Sahara. First I tried DVDshrink by itself, then DVDDecrypter. Then I downloaded a trial version of AnyDVD and CloneDVD. I have tried re-authoring and all kinds other crap to cut crap that wasn't needed on the disc. Every time, the copy locks up about the 5th chapter. When I run the copy back through DVDshrink (which I do sometimes to make sure the copy worked okay) it only makes it about 10% through before it gives me a "cycle redunancy" message.

Any ideas?

For you guys that say you copied Sahara with no problems, did you ever check the copy all the way through (or did you watch the copy) since you burned it? The reason I'm asking is when I tried DVDDecrypter, AnyDVD and Clone DVD it appeared to work just fine during the process. It wasn't until I went to verify if it worked or not when I discovered the problem. I know the problem wasn't with scratched or dirty DVDs either since each time I used a new one. All together I've burned up 4 blank DVDs now trying to make a copy that works.

colw has a excellent point, specially when a movie is difficult to copy, doing just the main movie-only can really help. why is it that ppl are so interested in all that crap that nowdays dvds come with? just asking. let me just tell you all that, i have never have a movie that i can't copy; of course i do main movie-only

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

First off, by coping Movie only on a DVD-5, for the most part, there is very little compression or no compression needed. That being the case your copies will be near perfect always using the right media, etc.

I use AnyDVD along with Recode2 to do "movie only" and on large screen TV's they are always perfect copies.

I have ripped Sahara using AnyDVD and Clonedvd2.(Havent ripped Hitch)

Probably the best two programs out there right now. I used to use Dvdyecryptor but now just use AnyDVD.

Anydvd is always stay up to date and are the best I think right now.

i've found that AnyDVD won't correctly remove the all of the protections on the dvds? i use a program called DVD43 and it seems to work flawlessly alongside CloneDVD 2 but why won't AnyDVD recognize the protection? it's updated and everything...it is a pirated copy...would that make a dif?
