ribbon cable for controler

i got given a broken ps2 and i fixed it was just a simple proplam with the vidio cables i played it for a whil one player and then one day a freind came over and wanted to play 2 player so i insert a second controller and try to play i got in to the game and it says to play multi player insert another controller i tried with several different controllers but the same thing happend so i pulled apart the ps2 and ui was haveing a look at the conttroller ports when i accedentally pulled the ribbon out i cant seem to get it back in is there any special way to put it back in and also the ribbon cable has sort of a hole in one side is this why the second controller port wont work?????

any suggestions on how to put the cable back in????
