I use DVD Shrink to edit and rip the movies to ISO format, and DVD Decrypter to burn them. The past few movies I have burned were particularly skippy at the end.(the last few chapters) Sahara was one of them, but I didn't clean the disk before I ripped it to ISO, so I thought that was hte problem. The other two, I did clean before I did. Those were The Longest Yard, and Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. The back of the burnt discs are clean and do not have any scratches. The skipping took place in different DVD players. (a Toshiba and a Sony Playstation.) The DVD media is TDK DVD+R, and Memororex DVD + R.

What's the deal!?

Thanks for your time, - rcrockett

Those are 2 brand names of media to be cautious of in the plus format. Usually Memorex and TDK use CMC Mags as their manufacturer.HP is another brand that uses cmags. Low quality media from that source. Download this free handy program to ID those memosux and TDK discs:

I've got a hunch that they are cmags.

Try reducing your target in dvd shrink:
Open up shrink
Edit
Preferences
Click dvd-5
Scroll till you get to custom
Enter 4300 mbs next to custom
OK

That's your new backup target. You may have to go lower.
When you get some better media, then you can take that target up to 4360 mbs to keep the burn from reaching the outer edge. This will help with issues like you are having.

Also, play one of those backups on the pc,using the DVD-RW drive that burned it and look at the end of the movie where those issues occur.

Follow all of saugmon's suggestions, but I have a question....

Have you tried using DVD Decrypter to rip instead of DVD Shrink?

Click on the link in my sig for instructions.

Good Luck!

@rcrockett:

The norm around here are: Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, Fujifilm.... etc. Of course, the most important thing to look for is the "Made in Japan" reference. Also, there's a proggie for identifying who actually manufactured the blank dvd's, but I don't have the info right at this very moment. Just do a search for it in the forums, you should turn up something. Or someone will come along with the link.

Programs that identify media manufacture are here in the software tab above. Some that come to mind are
DVD Decrypter: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_...
DVD Identifer: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
and Nero:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/nero.cfm
I like DVD Identifier the best, but all are good. Even with a media id tool, you can run across some fake stuff out there that fakes the software into thinking you have real Taiyo Yudens but people like Kivory666 can tell you if you have fakes. It seems the media code in the media is not faked and those codes will come up incorrect for genuine TYs.
Reducing the target size in shrink like saugmon said will keep you from burning to the edge of suspect media. You can actually look at a disc and sometimes see media incomplete coverage on the edge of bad media. You may have to change your viewing angle on the disc in the light to see this. Contrast that with what you see on good disc manufactures. There is a nice clean edge to the dye and no drop offs or other visible defects. Also i don't know if anyone suggested this, but slow down your burn speeds to 8x or less. Most here like burning at 4x but i personally burn at 8x. There isn't a whole lot of time difference between 4 and 8x, and if i were having playback problems, i would try a slower burn to see if it helps. Just an idea.
