for torrent files i usually just extract the first winrar file and the rest follow.
for two games i just got the first file ends .001 and the rest follow .002, .003, etc.
how do i extract these so that they form an iso that i can put on a disc?

Just open the file (.001) with WinRaR, extract & burn.

well i tried that. and i don't think it worked. another site suggest changing the files:
s-mksm.001 to s-mksm.001.rar
s-mksm.002 to s-mksm.002.rar
and etc. can anyone confirm/deny this working? i'd try it myself but i tried this once before and i couldn't get the files to go back to their original name when the change didn't work.

I can confirm that the game your trying to unzip is working ;) Could any of the files be missing or corrupt?

Seems you have all the right files, it should extract to a burnable ISO image but for some reason it's not working, read the link below to find out what a sfv is.

What exactly happens when you try to open the .001 file with WinRAR?

WinRAR doesn't have associations for .001-files so if you just right-click them there isn't any extraction options: You must open one file from the spanned archive (.001 is best choice because association you're making is permanent and you can open similar archives in the future by executing their .001 file) by doubleclicking it: If your computer asks which program to use for opening file select WinRAR and "use always this program", if this kind of files are linked to some other program (you'll see when you're trying to execute it) right-click on it and select "Open with..." and do as above. When WinRAR opens select file(s) and drag them manually from WinRAR window to place where you want to extract it.
I don't use english versions of XP so prompts might not be exactly like I mentioned but at least they should be near that.

I get the feeling Fruhmann didn't actually finish his download and was trying to open incomplete files created by his bittorrent client. Because .001 should, and will, be opened by WinRAR in normal circumstances -- no need to rename anything.
I would suggest using .sfv to doublecheck your files, too. Download quicksfv or something and double-click on the .sfv file after you install it. All proper releases come with an .nfo file (text file you can open in notepad with information on the release) and a .sfv file (for double-checking the integrity of the files via checksum).

this happens sometimes,
the best thing to do is just change clients,to finish the download off, like you have done
normally you can spot this when the rar files dont extract, even though it says 100%
