I have been successful in recording my home VHS tapes to my standalone DVD+R Recorder. The problem I am having is that some of these movies don't play in my other DVD players.

I was trying to copy them, but I don't know how. Also, if I want to take several of these DVD discs and transfer them into MPEG so I can author them, how do I accomplish this ?

Any help is appreciated! I have a standalone Classic DVR1000 that uses DVD+r's and Windows XP with a Memorex internal burner.

An easy way to do this would be to convert your homemade dvds to VCD (mpeg1) this real simple to do and time it takes to accomplish depends on your system specs, http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2vcd_with_smart_dvd2av... this is the simplist guide to do this, once you have the dvd converted to an mpeg use an app like tmpge dvd author. In the guide i know it uses SmartRipper but DVD Decrypter works just as well.

Are there diffrent format options that the DVD recorder will record when you copy your DVD and are you finilizing the disc after the burn?

It could be that your DVD burrner player is using a codec that your computer doesnt have installed. Find out what codec it is using or try changing the output file to a more standard codec.

Did you try ripping the files off with DVD Decrypter to see if maybe they put a copy protection on the disc after it burns. that might be why your getting the cyclic redundancy error
