I used DVD Shrink successfully twice before i started getting a number of error messages. The most common message is, "DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Out of memory. The paging file is too small for this operation to complete." I currently have 16.8GB of memory on my hard drive. I have tried with numerous movies. I tried unsucessfully to rip an .IFO in Decrypter as well. I dont understand why it worked twice and is now become such a headache. Thanks for any suggestions!
If you have 16.8GB of memory, I envy you!
I'm assuming you either mean you have 16.8MB of memory or you have 16.8GB of hard drive space.
If you only have 16.8MB of memory, that's not enough. I'm not sure how much memory it takes to burn DVDs, but I'm sure it's a lot more than 16.8MB. If this is the case, you should buy another memory stick. I have 768MB of memory (a 512MB stick and a 256MB stick) which is perfect for me.
My name is Domino Harvey. I am a bounty hunter. Dell Dimension 2350, Intel Pentium 4 Processor 1.80GHz, Windows XP Home Edition, 768MB of RAM, 60GB Internal Seagate HD, 80GB External Maxtor HD, Lite-On DVD SOHD-167T Drive, Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1633S Drive
sorry, I have 256MB of RAM, and 16GB of free space on my hard drive. This seems to be enough since it worked twice for me...Cold Mountain and Harold and Maude. I have tried Kentucy Fried Movie, True Romance, Garden State, and The Day after tomorrow. All of these have come up with errors in the encoding phase.
@kvananne
I went to:
http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=72cbbfc2f47455de... and they list an error code for out of memory problem in shrink, but it was not about paging file size. You may be running in to some type of encryption on this movie that Shrink cant handle. As Konfused1 said
Quote:Why don't you use DVD Decrypter (you can download from this site, it's free!) to rip?
you could also be having a DVD43 conflict if it is open when you use shrink or decrypter. I may break down soon and by AnyDVD as it is updated and Decrypter and Shrink are not being regularly updated anymore. You also may want to check and see if your HD is fragmented as it could easily be so, particularly if you rip movies often. Drive frag can give you problems also, although it may not be the cause in this case. Try closing down all programs you don't need by
left clicking on the program in the lower task bar and selecting exit or close if you can, just in case it really is a lack of memory problem.
@ kvananne hi :)
we could do with a little more info
give us a run down on the proccess you use from rip to burn
in my case shrink....reauthor main movie only (can't abide all the other rubbish)....Decrypter to burn
media you are useing
how fast do you burn
definitely need more memory. another 256mb would help
@ MaxBurn hi :)
didn't get back to you on the other thread
your sig don't look to large to me (still creases me up)
that thread you were on about was a long time ago man
i use photobucket to host my pics and they come out the same size as my pic automaticly
@gurnard
Hi. Thanks. I think the cat is going to stay that size unless an admin or mod tells me it is too big. I can shrink down a still image of it, but animation is fun.
@kvananne
Are you still getting errors after trying all the suggestions? And as gurnard asked, a description of a step by step process you use leading up to the error would help. We may be able to suggest an alternative method by using another free program or by changing the way you use shrink. I would like to have one program that works on every DVD, but i have several programs, most of them free, that i use when one doesn't work.
