man you guys are lucky, Yahoo SBC dsl isn't avaible in my area. I get 1.5mbps and 768kbps up from Qwest for $45 a month. Being in a non-city kinda stinks when it comes to internet. There are very few hotspots, we pay the same amount but get slower internet. Like look at the average speed for someone with cable from New York compared to Colorado. Almost ten times more!

I live in northern VA, about 45 miles west of Washington, DC. Connecting to the Washington DC server, it was 6154kbps download and 360kbps upload. Connecting across country to Seattle, WA it was 2164kbps download and 358kbps upload. I am using Comcast cable.

phoenix,

dont use the mcafee test, use the speakeasy test (if you are in the states of course), otherwise get a test for your country from http://broadbandreports.com

Hi, if you want a reliable and useful speed tester use the one from Beltronica. OK the English could be better BUT it will send you an up and down report to your email address that you can forward to your ISP that cannot be argued with. It gives the whole bit, Address, time, evrything. My ISP, france telecom is not amused. In fact they are well pxxxed of they cannot refute this!!

Dont worry about the country, you load it on the site.

Roger

why bother messing around with dial-up. If you are upgrading, you should upgrade to broadband.
