Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else was having problems booting burned games that were burned to Sony DVD-Rs. I am using swap magic 3.3 and it seems like whenever I backup a game to these discs they don't load. I am burning at 1x and I am backing up games that should work.

Maybe you're burning them wrong, or maybe you need to burn them at 2X or 4X... some more info on what software you burn them with and what software you extract the .iso with would be helpful.

I am just ripping my store bought disc and then burning the image using Nero. Wouldn't increasing the speed just make it worse?

ok You're using Swapmagic 3.3
So are you using a fliptop or slide card?

If you're using either one and haven't ever gotten a game to work correctly you may have either installed the Fliptop incorrectly and the PS2 still thinks the drive is open or if you're using a slide card if not used right it too can make the ps2 think the drive is open and it won't load right...

I am using a slide card. I have loaded games before with my slide card so I don't think it's an issue with the way I use the card. Like I said it seems only to be the sony media.

Ok I burned Darkwatch, DVD Loader (I know it's not really a game), Mercenaries (I know it's not supposed to work) and Tony Hawk Underground 2. Everytime I try and boot it says not a valid PS2 disc.

DVD Loader should work Darkwatch & Mercenaries Need to be rebuilt http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515

and Tony Hawk Underground 2 Aparently from what I'm reading from other threads may need to be rebuilt also.. Alot of people are having problems with those games

What are the ID's of those Sony's you have?
Try Burning DVD Loader at 2x or 4x I read somewhere also that the PS2 reads games at 2x or 4x depends on the game I don't know how true that is but I've always burned at 2x or 4x with no problems

Ok great. Shouldn't I be able to run Darkwatch and Tony with DVD loader? Maybe I burned DVD loader wrong. I have "DVDLoader v7 ALL". I try to burn with Nero Express and it says it's a CD image. So I go into Nero and Select DVD Rom and burn without multisession and I manage to burn the image to DVD. Is the correct way of burning it? I didn't burn to CD because my understanding was that Swap Magic doesn't boot CDs. Thanks for all of your help.

If you're using SM 3.3 you shouldn't even need DVD Loader.. But the game may need to be rebuilt for Large TOC or other reasons.... Do a search for these games by name on here.. there are numerous threads on them. So I know that you aren't the only one having problems with these games...

or you can just rebuild them with the link I gave you
