I'll try to be descriptive as possible...

I have two PS2's...both with identical fliptops...both identical models (SCPH-39001). I have been using one for some months now with SM 2.0 and it has worked fine every time with all games... even DVD9 -> DVD5 conversions. Now i have need for the other one and cant get it to work. It reads the SM disc fine but when u put in the copied dvd it just spins and the laser tries to read and eventually comes up with a red border around the SM screen. Sometimes depending on the game it makes the clicking noise. (BTW original games still work fine on the console)

I have been using Memorex DVD-R's but i tried +R's with the machine that doesn't work with no avail. I also tried adjusting the laser in both directions with an allen key. That didn't work so i just set it back to original spec. I also cleaned the laser lens. Is there anything else i can try to get it to work? I have been told for some reason some PS2's just dont work with copied games. May this be the case? An ideas anyone has would be much appreciated.

if modded all PS2's work with copied games.
It may either be the way the flip top is installed, or the
laser in that one just does not like the crappy Memorex
media you used. Neither of mine will play back ups that
are burned on Memorex.

I have heard a few things on flip tops like they won't work
if the screws are on too tight, or some people had to put a
small amount of weight on the top to get it to load.
Try a few of those things and see if it works, and may want to
try different media.
