recently my PS2 has been on the fritz, making a buzzing noise and either freezing or not loading the disc. i opened it up a while back and fooled with it and it worked for a while, then started to revert to it's old ways. for a while, i could just hit the top of the PS2 and it would work normally again, but now that's not working and so i opened it back up. after toying with it a while, i've come to the conclusion that the laser isn't being moved properly. it looks like the laser's slipping on the screw mechanism that is used to drive it along the bottom of the disc tray. the little piece of metal that is supposed to catch onto the screw and move the laser along the shaft is slipping. if i'm not being descriptive enough, i might be able to put some pictures up. i think i have a later model PS2, without the single cog that is used to adjust the laser height. thanks in advanced.
