it is normally used in a sequence to make a back up copy of a PS2 Game. Like

** DVD Decrypter to create initial image.
** ISOBuster to extract the files of the image (doing away with the dud space.
** CD/DVD Gen to create the necessary files for rebuilding the image.
** IML to ISO to put the files together to create the final image.
** DVD Decrypter to burn the final image.

and I can't find it anywhere. If you could help I would appreciate it.

the problem is I am trying to make a back up of a game and it goes to the loading screen and freezes. I have tried multiple ways of burning it but with no success so I decided that I would do it the right way or what I think is the right way. so any help would be appreciated.

** CD/DVD Gen to create the necessary files for rebuilding the image.
** IML to ISO to put the files together to create the final image.

From what I've heard gt4 is a dual layer disc I'll have to read up on burning a dual layer disc but when I back up a disc I use this process..

** DVD Decrypter to create initial image.
** ISOBuster to extract the files of the image (doing away with the dud space.
** CD/DVD Gen version 1.50 to create the necessary files for rebuilding the image.
** Command prompt to put the files together to create the final image.
** DVD Decrypter to burn the final image.

Now CD/DVD Generator has a patch file that needs to be applied. If you forget to patch this program after you install it, it will not work correctly, and you will create coasters.
** The best way to install this program is to unzip all files to a new folder, then run the setup. Afterwards, go back and double click on the file with the word "patch" in it. It will be found in a separate folder inside the folder you unzipped the program to. Double click the patch file, and the patcher opens up and browse to the CD_DVD-ROM Generator 1.50 folder. Then select the cddvdgen file.

and here is the step by step of how I use it

1. Create the initial image from the retail game disc using DVD Decrypter.
A. Insert your game disc into your computer.
B. Open DVD Decrypter.
C. Click Mode/ISO/Read, or just Press R
D. Take note of the image name it provides for you, and the
location to where it will save it.
E. Press the button at the bottom so it can create the 1st
image of the game.
2. Open that image up in ISOBuster.
A. This is a tiny folder icon at the very top of ISOBuster,
locate that icon.
B. Click that icon, and double click the image file that
DVD Decrypter created for you.
3. Write down all of the names you see in the order you see them or take a screen shot using print screen and go into msword and paste the image and print it out. Then close ms word.
4. Drop the window down for a moment, and open MY Computer.
5. Open the C Drive.
6. Create a new folder called "isocleaned."
NOTE: You will use this folder each time for each new game
you rip. So remember to empty this folder after you
have completed all of the below steps.
7. Minimize that window (drop it down)
8. Return to ISOBuster.
9. Press Cntrl-A to highlight all of the files.
10. Right click any one of them, and select "extract."
11. Extract the files to the c:\isocleaned folder.
12. Once that is done, close ISOBuster.
13. CREATE A NEW FILE IN THE C:\ NAMED "TWOFILES"
a) OPEN CDVDGEN REMEMER IT HAS TO BE PATCHED ONCE IT IS PATCHED YOU NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT AGAIN.
b) SELECT ?CREATE NEW PROJECT? AND THEN SELECT ?DVD-ROM
MASTER DISC?. DRAG CD/DVDGEN TO THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR
SCREEN.
c) NAVIGATE TO THE FOLDER THAT YOU CREATED IN YOUR CASE IT WAS "ISO CLEANED" ON YOUR HARD DRIVE OPEN IT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR SCREEN.
d) SET THE WIDTH OF THAT WINDOW SO THAT IT IS ONLY 1 FILE WIDE. THIS WILL PLACE THE FILES INTO THE SAME ORDER AS THEY WERE ON THE GAME DISK BUT YOU SHOULD CHECK THEM FOR CORRECT ORDER JUST IN CASE YOU HAVE A PRINTED COPY.
e) CLICK ON EDIT > SELECT ALL.
f) DRAG ALL THE FILES INTO THE RIGHT SIDE OF CD/DVD GEN.
g) LOOK FOR A SLUS OR SLES FILE AND WRITE DOWN THE FULL NAME IT SHOULD BE ON THE PRINTED PAGE THEN CLICK ON THE ?VOLUME? TAB IN CD/DVDGEN.
h)TYPE SLUS OR SLES (WHICHEVER YOUR FILE NAME IS) INTO THE 1ST BOX NEAR "DISC NAME"
i) THEN IN THE NEXT BOX TO THE RIGHT TYPE ALL OF THE NUMBERS FROM YOUR FILE NAME, WITHOUT THE PERIOD.
EXAMPLE "SLUS 265.47" YOU JUST LEAVE THE PERIOD OUT SO
"SLUS 26547".
j) TYPE PLAYSTATION FOR THE PRODUCER NAME AND SELECT THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE AREA.
k)CLICK ON "REC...".
L)SELECT YOUR "TWOFILES" FOLDER AND NAME THE FILE STAR.IML
m)YOU WILL GET 2 ERRORS, JUST CLICK OK FOR BOTH.
n)THE RECORDING SCREEN WILL POP UP, CLICK ON FILE > EXPORT IMAGE AND SAVE IT IN YOUR "TWOFILES" FORDLER ON YOUR HARD DRIVES NAME IT STAR.LST
o) WHEN IT'S FINISHED, YOU WILL HAVE 2 FILES NAMED STAR.000 AND STAR.001
p)CLOSE CDVDGEN AND GO TO NEXT STEP.

4) MERGE THE .000 AND .001 FILES INTO A SINGLE ISO IMAGE.
THE EASIEST WAY TO MERGE THE FILES IS FROM A COMMAND SCREEN.
YOU WON'T HAVE TO INSTALL AN EXTRA PROGRAM THAT MAY NEED
EXTRA FILES TO WORK AND COME ON, ADMIT IT, DOS IS SO MUCH FUN!!
a)CLICK THE WINDOWS START BUTTON AND CLICK ON RUN.
b)TYPE CMD.EXE IN THE BOX AND HIT ENTER.
c)CHANGE THE DIRECTORY TO MATCH WHERE YOUR STAR.000 AND STAR.001
FILES ARE STORED.

d)EXAMPLE- IF EVERYTHING IS PUT WHERE I STATED

CD C:\TWOFILES AND HIT ENTER.
COPY/B STAR.000 + STAR.001 STAR.ISO AND THEN HIT ENTER

E)WHEN IT'S FINISHED YOU WILL HAVE A NEW ISO IMAGE NAMED STAR.ISO THAT YOU CAN NOW BURN TO THE FINISHED DVD.

5) BURN THE NEW ISO IMAGE ONTO A BLANK DVD. DVD Decrypter
USE YOUR FAVORITE DVD BURNING UTILITY TO BURN IT AT THE
SLOWEST SPEED AND YOU BHOULD HAVE A GAME.

I had a problem on one of my games and this fixed it but it was not a dual layer disc by any means so let me know if this works.

everything is going okay except for right at the end we can't get it burned to a dvd. we've tried both DVD Decrypter and Nero. we're using Imation DVD+R 8x.
are we doing something wrong? we've tried using DVD Decrypter and it says it burns, but when we put the disk in ps2, the ps2 says to insert a valid ps2 disk.
we can't even get Nero to burn a disk...when trying to select the Star.iso file in Nero, it says it's an invalid file :-S
thanks in advance,

Yeah a couple things are wrong. Ditch the imitation DVD+R's. Try Maxell, TDK, or Phillips. If you have an older PS2 they can be tempermental with playing DVD+R's. Newer ones should be okay with DVD+R's. Try burning some DVD-R's if your burner supports em. Any of the brands I mentioned should work fine. Try lowering the burn speed to 4x. Some heavy FMV games burn better at 4x, but generally slower speeds are better. Here is the correct method for using DVD Decrypter: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html Good Luck. What game are you trying to backup?
