I'm very new to all of this...i just recently learned to copy DVD's using DvD Decrypter, Shrink and Nero. Now i'm working with my new camcorder. Using the software DVC Media 5.1 (Came with camera) I was able to stream the Tape onto my hard drive. I can watch it, edit it and all that. It is saved in Windows Media player automatically using DVC Media, yet when i tried to burn it to a DVD also using Windows Media it didn't work...i can open the DVD Disc on my computer and see the file..but it won't play in PC or DVD Home Player. Everything I have read(and the little i understand) talks about DVD-R...my PC is only compatiable with DVD+R...is that a problem? How do i get these files to burn to a DVD? Is there additional software i need? I hope i supplied all the information you need to help me, and any help you can give will be greatly appreciated... From other posts i have read I'm tring to provide all the info i know, so it(DVD Media)saves it as a asf file type...the video codec is ISO MPEG4 VIDEO V1. if any of that means anything to anyone. Please remember i'm very new and unexperienced about this kind of stuff, so please give as many details as possible...thank you in advance for all your help.

You video file has to be converted so the software you have can burn it. Basically, what you have is an .AVI file. You either need to convert it using something like avi2dvd, which is found on this site in the software tab above or simply by a vhs to dvd standalone recorder. Some people prefer that because it takes out the guess work and conversions are done automatically. The first was is the cheaper way and cost you a little more time, but you gain alot more knowledge! There are many guides to help you. Click the link on my sig from bbmayo for additional info.
