Man, you're lucky. Last power outage we had at work was an hour before shift ended and we had to stand outside the whole time just in case it came back on. Enjoy!

afternoon all. i've only ever done hands on, and that probably won't change for the future so not sure i can recommend anything career-wise that's hands off.

Kinza, mechanical engineering is an excellent choice. Engineers are in high demand, and there aren't enough coming out of the college system.
BTW, I am a civil engineer.

@ kinza
i am an automotive technician, been doin it for 17 years now. gets interesting, but old at the same time. with technology now, most people can't even do it themselves. too difficult to attempt. you need computer scan tool just to know whats going on, then you need to understand data, the list goes on and on. but, i guess thats why you can make good money in this field.

i think correct me if im wrong grandpabw that civil eng are the one that like design bridges, roadways, new landmasses and stuff like that
personally i have a bs in electronic engineering
not to discourage mechanical engineering but if i had to do it all over again i would go for the electro-mechanical degree get the both of both worlds
just my input
oh yeah im in canal winchester small world huh

Ecknight, you are correct, but I have not designed any bridges. I generally work with communities here, in northern Minnesota. I have designed streets, county roads, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, small airports, elevated water storage tanks, water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, landfills, and many other municipal type projects.
In the course of those designs, I have dealt with numerous local, county, state, and federal agencies and councils.
In the past 4 years, I have done quite a bit of site planning, for architects.

Kinza, although you need to know how to do drafting work, technicians are the ones who do the drafting for you.
