As some of you know, I started out with Memorex media b/c I didn't know any better! Thanks to this forum, I was "converted" before I threw too much money down the drain. But before I figured it out I did alot of backing up on the crappy media. This morning I got my first taste of why Memorex is referred to as Memosux around here! One of the DVDs that my daughter loves and watches alot is not working well. It took me about 5 tries turning the player on and off to get the player to be able to read the DVD and once it started working it breaks up and skips frequently. Looks like I'm going to have to take advantage of some of those sales listed on here and re-backup the ones that are currently on Memorex. Bummer!!! When I used the Identifier program, it showed that the Memorex's were made by Prodisc so I thought they'd be ok but I guess not! If the Prodisc made discs are the better ones and this is how badly it reacts, I'd hate to see how badly the bad ones do! I made this DVD only 2 weeks ago and it's already a coaster!!

your username rings a bell, was it a Nero burn by any chance ?. i'll happily look over a logfile if so, if for no other reason than to give Memorex the benefit of the doubt (no prizes for guessing i'm insincere re giving the company an iota of a doubt!)

edit- i remember now, here's the one i recall - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/235278

Ritec and Ridata have been the best in all the burners for me. They are also the least expensive!
Give them a try and you will join the 100 disc cake club.

PS: The coasters are great to keep the birds out of the barn and garage. Just suspend them from the rafters.......

MEMOSUX~ MEMOSUX~ whoo hoo~ yeah, i've been telling everyone that Prodisc is NOT considered good quality by me personally, actually saw a post on here some time ago where someone said they were having a LOT of success with them...i kinda shuddered, but, hey, i'm not gonna argue and start a flame war because SOMEONE likes prodisc :)

anyways, 2 weeks is a new record that i've heard of, but you did in fact get the better of the 2...Prodisc IS better than CMC MAG produced discs, however, not by that much~ :)

crap media tastes bad huh? well, use the "good stuff" and your worries should be minimized...check my sig. for suggestions~ :)

I've learned my lesson! Bought a 50 pack of Verbs last weekend and bought two of the 30 pack Fuji's at Staples today. Will reburn from Memorex to those for when the Memos die.
creaky...I have only burned with Nero/Shrink and have had ZERO bad burns so I have EXTREMEMLY doubtful that it's anything other than a bad media problem. I'll know if I'm wrong if any of my Verbs or Fuji's go bad. Only time will tell.
cm42066...I have to ask...what's with the comment about them keeping the birds out of the barn or garage. I have neither so it wouldn't matter but I'm extremely curious!!

You know, Memorex is getting sneaky ... I had some 'yard sale' discs that ID out as RicohjpnR03 .. I used them for the granddaughters and the scans were great ... I purchased them for the jewel cases / 5 for $1

@catfreak

i LOVE HER "EVERYTHING", from her lips to her "look", to her body to her acting abilities, IN MY OPINION, i have YET to see a more drop dead gorgeous woman during my 30+ years of life on this planet~ :)

she has got the nicest "DSLs" i have ever seen~ (and NO, i do not mean broadband LOL) :) man, the things that run through my head...i'd love to give her a full medical examination, top to bottom, free of charge of course~ :)

anyways, sorry, a bit off topic now aren't i? so, i can imagine those "yard-sale" RICOHJPNs are working out nicely for you right buddy? i've noticed your burners really adore the Ricohjpn coded media, you've mentioned it on more than a few occasions...hehe

ok, time to do some more "internet browsing," can you guess what my "key word" is going to be in google? LOL

have a good evening everyone~

Maybe do a little cutting between Ms Jolie's ears, huh Doc? Ya gotta admit, that vixen's a little strange . . Personally, I'm more of a Jessica Biel guy

My semi-retired Ricoh MP5240A was the drive that adored the Ricohjpn discs, while my new BenQ DW1640 likes my collection of Verbs .. And it likes the Yundens I've fed it much more than the Ricoh drive ...

@ nim1976 hi :)
what cm42066 is refering to is the fact that as my mother in law does
she strings them together and as they swing around they flash in the light and act very similar to wind chimes and scare the birds off of her seeds and vegetables in the garden
