Afetr backing up a DVD (Leo), I'm having difficulty deleting residual files. The files other than the VIDEO_TS seem to be encryted(?). The file names include charaters not included on my keyboard, and the attempts to delete return "Cannot delete <filename>: The filename, directory name, or volumn label syntax is incorrect". This is the first time I've encountered this problem. The backup (decrypter & Shrink) worked without problem.
Anyone seen this before? Is there a way to delete these files?
Thank you in advance

Was this an original DVD that you backed up from, or a copy itself?
I've never heard of not being able to delete a file afterwards, so this is a bit odd.

This is an original DVD (Leo, 2002 - Elisabeth Shue, Joseph Fiennes,
Sam Shepard, Denis Hopper).
I've never seen this either - the directory is usually named for the DVD and the files within have been standard, and never named with encryption.
I tried Norton System Works/Utilities/Maintenance/Wipe Info, but that failed.

I tried the boot in safe mode then delete, but the result is about the same. For some reason, attempting to delete the files within the folder returns "Cannot delete file: cannot read from the source file or disk", and attempting to delete the folder returns "Cannot delete <filename>:...syntax is incorrect" - that hasn't changed.
I also tried EMCU UNlock IT, but that returned "file does not exisit". Strange.

Maybe the file isn't there any longer and you were just left with residual data. I was thinking about your problem and I came up with the following:
A)The drive you have the backup file in might be corrupt, try defragging and check for errors. A reinstall?
B)Find a proggie that deletes files permanently. I went to Download.com and put "file deletion" in the search field and a whole plethora of proggies (free and not) came up.
C)Uninstall and reinstall DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, the problem might lie there.
D)System Restore.
NOTE: these aren't in any order of importance, so try the least hassle-free approach.
Good Luck!
