@StateQB

Did u have AnyDVD or DVD43(Free) running in the background at the time...

try that and see if it works for you... if not then try DVDFab Decrypter also free and does a good job too sometimes does more movies than DVD Decrypter and also is updated regularly

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvdf...

good luck...

what is with the constant pushing of non free programs like AnyDVD? are they an advertsier? if so, that is nice, but it is wrong just to keep endlessly pushing it for disks that do NOT need it. hitchhikers can be done not only with the free dvddecrypter or free "dvdfab decrypter" but for that matter can be done with DVD Shrink alone!

this person has a SCRATCHED disk

I do not have this movie but a friend backed up theirs, and they are really computer challenged. I taught him the basics of Decrypter and Shrink, and that is what he used. So if you are having this problem you may want to take the disk back and get another one. There is some imperfection in it.

@S2K

No one is constantly pushing AnyDVD, members only advise on software they have, use, and no works. AnyDVD is a good product that many recommend, no one is pushing anyone to buy it. Free programs are always recommended along with the pay, if you will notice in the other posts.

Try running Andvd in the back ground and use Clonedvd2.
Thats what I used and worked.

Also try cleaning ths disc
or
Try getting another copy (might be a bad press)

Don't know that most are pushing AnyDVD or CloneDVD purchases on anyone. They should make it clear that these programs offer a 21 day free fully functional trial. Also in many of the cases the older free programs (DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink) will still work. There are still only a very few US releases that DVD Decrypter can not handle. It is always best to have a number of options to use.

Could anyone get better then 56% compression when reauthoring? My personal cutoff is 60% and thinkin I wont bother with this one.

i got a very good compression ratio for movie-only, can't remember what the percentage was though. i even did the original '80's hitchhiker dvd the other day, did the full disk in Shrink as the original quality wasn't exactly crisp to start with so didn't mind losing quality there..

ps as i said before, no funny protections on the new Hitchhikers' movie. Persevere, it's really good, even my kids enjoyed it
