I have a ps2 slimline V12 and would like to know what my best option is for playing backed up games.

Although a modchip seems like the way to go the extra expense of getting it fitted might be out of my budget range. So would the swap magic discs be a better option for me? If so do I have to get them with the flip lid or can I use the disc with a slide tool that I have read about? And what version of the sm disc do I need for my ps2?

Also does the swap magic discs work with just as many games that the modchip would work with? Or does the modchip play a lot more games than the SM discs will?

Thanks.

Im not shure about the games compatible with the swapdisk
but all the flip top and slide card is for is the older version ps2.
For the new slimline ps2 you need something like this

http://www.modchipnow.com/product_info.php/products_id/127

Make sure you get the right version swap disk if your in usa get NTSC version and so on

or all i did was open the ps2 up very carefully(without voiding the warrenty)and i put a little bit of blue tack were the swap tool C went wich is were the left spring for the lid was and i closed it back up.Put a little bluetack were there is a little switch behind the power button and but something to hold the little thing that holds the cd fom spinning which means the ps2 still thinks the lids shut when its not

then all you need to do is put the swapdisk in and swap away

yes a mod chip may be more expensive. but that is
beacuse it is just plain better than Swap Magic
But Swap Magic and a slimtool or magic switch
or aftermarket flip top will work.
With a mod chip there is:
1. no swapping
2. cheat discs work with backups just like original (no extra programs needed)
3. no rebuilding ISO's or patching (except for online play)
4. can play DVD9 (dual layer) back ups (a good chip can)
5. plays PAL or NTSC games without screen cutoff, and when there is it is much less than Swap Magic has
6. you get free upgrades with a good chip (flash upgrades)
no need to buy a new set of swap discs when they add new features

downfalls:
1. you can not play online games with a chip on, the site
will detect it as a cheat device. Fir that you would still
need the swap magic and aftermarket fliptop
