you want to know what the difference between DVD+-Rs........ check out this link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136
move down to #12 and read all about it...... it's about Booktype/bitsetting and what disks are more universally accepted by most DVD players!
I used DVD+Rs. I booktype to DVD-ROM, which is most accepted by any DVD player! read all about it in the link above.

Pal..... it's possible that your computer drive won't recognize that disk because it might need a firmware update! Or the disk is just incompatible to the drive! http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php check out this link and see if your drive needs a firmware update to recognize your disk! good luck!
Did you ask me if you can get a FREE DVD BURNER? Good luck with that too! :-D
here is another link to find out about your drive: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php this is where you can find out the latest firmware for your drive!

You can't go wrong! I would have made my own guides but why should I when they already have mastered it! AfterDawn has everything you need ....... just look things up...... but that link will get you going!!!! good luck, wee grasshopper! and this is the fun part of learning...... make it a game and the rewards are many!

use a better disk........ go out and buy Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, Maxell.... make sure they are made in Japan..... you can't go wrong with those disks....... also think about using DVD+Rs..... this way you can booktype them to DVD-ROMs so it will be more acceptable to most DVD players...... THAT'S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO!

LOL Palverez, you're not the only one to do that.
Since you are now in the market for a dvd burner, check out benq 1620/1640/ plextor/or the Lite-ons for a quality burner with the bitsetting capability then you'll have less of a problem finding standalones or pc drives that won't play your backups!!!!!
Newegg.com has some great prices for quality burners. Even check out the sony, some of them are rebadged liteys!
There's some burners out there with the bitsetting capability and their booktyped dvd-roms are still very poor compatability wise.Get one of those brand names I listed in the 16x speed because they are quality burners. Also, all brand names I mentioned except for plextor, can be purchased under $50 including fedex. That's an excellent price.
Maxell plus format is excellent. Here's a few of their quality manufacturers that I have run into, and not a single crappy one in the bunch:
Hitachi: Maxell-002-00
Ritek-R03
Ricohjpn-r01
HP a1118x-b/athlon 64-3300+/BenQ 1650 BCDC/LG 8163B/Modded Wii/Epson-R300 and Ty Watershields!!!

It's heck of a lot cheaper than picking one up at wal-mart/staples/bestbuy and other stores.
I've got 5 pc burners,2 of which are benq 1620s. Those other 3 burners compatability on stand alones were far inferior compared to my benqs.Even an I/O magic 16x which had booktyping capability couldn't even come close to my benqs. That's why you want a quality brand name like I mentioned.
Let us know which one you pick.
