What's better for burning dvd's. DVD+R or DVD-R ? Is there any quality or sound loss if i pick one or the other?. Ive always wanted to know this.

I don't think so. I prefer DVD+R b/c it seems to be more versitile.

Usually compatability on stand alone players. Those players are the drives that you will view those backups in. Some prefer both/1/or neither of those formats. Some of those stand alones can be picky between formats,and even to different burners.

Rule of thumb: Older stand alones-use dash Newer stand alones-use plus.

Or you could bypass both and booktype the plus format to dvd-rom.I only buy the plus format because my booktyped dvd backups will play in a lot more stand alones than my dash backups.

What's your burner model name and #?

The quality shouldn't be effected,just make sure you are using high quality media and none of the crappy media.
The problems arrise when you buy a brand name like TDK. Those manufacturers are very good on their dash format,but on the plus format-lots of cmags are on them.Huge quality difference on TDK when you take into consideration that they are sitting on a shelf next to each other along with the same price.

Try a batch of plus,and test them out on those stand alones and pc drives that you will be viewing those backups on.They will tell you which format,if any,that they prefer.
